Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I'm coming into an education situation where I am trying to move a cart full of iPod 2nd generation (iOS 4.2.1) from management with iTunes to using Apple Configurator.

I am getting the same error and I'm wondering if Configurator is not compatible with these older iPods?

Thanks to anyone who can help! I did update to the most recent version of Configurator after reading about similar issues, but the error is still occurring.

Hi, I did find out that configurator doesn't support lower than iOS 4.3. What I suggest is that you set up one iPod the way you want. Enable restrictions to turn off certain features. Run a back up. Restore all other iPods to that back up and they will all be the same.

It's a pain, and not efficient but it's the best you can do with an outmoded device.
