Q: How do I get more room on my iphone for syncing my apps and itunes?

My new iphone says there is not enough room to sync my apps or music from itunes.  It all fit on my old phone.  I have deleted photos, messages, cleared my safari history, says i still need another GB. 

iPhone 4, iOS 7
