How to put a moving arrow into iMovie '11

I am trying to make a highlight tape for a lacrosse player and they requested that I put an arrow over them so coaches can focus on them, but all of the tutorials I have found are for iMovie 09 and I have 11, which will not let me put a picture on a picture. Please help as soon as possible!!!

The advice, I give in this user-tip

How to create a pointer or a custom title

works in iM09 as in iM11.

… but a moving arrow is impossible in iMovie, due to lack of key-framing pic-in-pics.

Consider usage of more elaborated tools, such FCPX.

Or, Motion5 as 'effects machine' - works as a standalone, so, can be used in conjunction with iMovie.

The latest Adobe Premiere/elements (70-100$) offers a 'tracking-feature', to apply arrows or titles to moving objects. 'Tracking' allows a lot of fun stuff, example made in Motion5: http://youtu.be/ac0QyDJmTjE

Fingers crossed, after 4y of development, iMovie14 will offer a similiar effect… 😉
