When I've got my Messaging app open, and it's open to an ongoing conversation, I no longer receive the usual vibration you get with an incoming message when your conversation screen is already open? I recently updated to the iOS 7 software. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure the notification alerts are disabled if you are in the conversation. Does it vibrate as expected if you leave Messages?

It will be crowded with the release of the 5s and 5c, plus iOS 7, but you can definitely see what they say about it.

Did you ever get this figured out? Because I actually have the opposite problem. I would greatly prefer for there to not be vibrations when I'm looking at the conversation in the Messages app, but instead I constantly get vibrations when my phone is on silent (even when I'm actively typing to the same person).

If there's some setting you found to enable the state I'm in, I would gladly turn it off.

Oh common, this is not a bug. It should work exactly like this. The vibrations are very anoying if you are in conversation with someone. I have the oposite problem on my 5s, it vibrates all the time during conversation and it causes me heart attacks everytime I get new message 🙂
