Here is a packet capture from my iPhone. It does this quite frequently. Who is AV?

The request is used to determine if you're on the real internet or a captive portal (like the guest network where you have to sign in first). Essentially it tries to load this web page in the background, if it doesn't get the response it expects it displays the results in that little "Sign into the internet pop-up".


That said, I would have hoped apple would put more responsible content in there than "AV was here!".
