Find my Mac is greyed / grayed

and when I click on 'update...' it reads that everything is up to date, so why isn't 'Find my Mac' activated?

Would appreciate any input. (Apologies if I've repeated a question that's been answered, but please forward me any leads).

Thanks again, and can you tell me where I can turn on the option for location setting?

(Though I don't really see how this changes matters, since I am connected to iCloud with portable devices

and iCloud seems to work with iTunes fine).

Yes, I think I'm the system admin since I have assigned no other log in user names. Or do I have to change a setting for this as well?

(Sorry if I sound like a little neophite at this).

Go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy>PRivacy tab. You should see 3 options: location services. contacts and diagnostic usage, click on any of those preferebly the location services and see if the check box "enable location services" is checked. If you are the admin then I don't see why the option would be greyed out other than something else disabled iCloud.

Again, hope this helps!
