Bank statement pdf to Numbers?

I've been reading various posts all over the net, but haven't found a solution yet. But I have a memory of doing something like this last year. Just can't remember how. My bank gives me my statements as PDF files. I want to copy the statements into Numbers. I can't just copy/paste, because everything ends up in the first column.

Is there a trick to making this happen? A bit of software that can convert the PDF to a CVS file, or something that will easily maintain the column structure in the PDF?

Hi Wayne,

Yes, this I've done in the past. It's good for the last couple of months. But I have to go back five years. And dump years of back bank and VISA statements into a spreadsheet.

Try PDF to Word. You can download a free trial from the developer's web site. I used it some time ago on a PDF of a credit card statement. The data was no longer available as .csv or .qfx from the credit card web site. I opened the resulting .doc file in Pages & was able to copy the data into a Numbers spreadsheet.

If the conversion didn't create a table in Word, you will need to do some manipulating of the data in Pages by separating it with tabs before copying & pasting into Numbers.

As you can tell from the black & white photo, that was taken many, many years ago - almost 62 years to be precise.

Hi Peggy,

You must be the very youngest Forum contributor I've ever seen. Very cute though. The PDF to Word works great. Now, once I've got it in Word (I actually opened it in Pages, works fine), how do I delimit the thing so I can copy it into respective columns and rows in Numbers all at once (not line by line)?

If I copy the numbers (lines and invisible columns), and paste into Numbers, they just all sit in the first column. No CVS thingie happens. Is there a way to convert the Word/Pages file so that the delimiting happens automatically?

while looking at your banks website do NOT download the pdf. try to locate the link to download recent activity and select from the menu either CSV or QFX. Number will open these in a table
