IPAD is turning itself off repeatedly/unexpectedly.

I upgraded my 3rd generation IPad to IOS 7. It worked fine for a couple of days but now it turns itself off after about 60 seconds (the first time) and then after about 10 seconds every time after that. I hear I can't go back to IOS 6. What should I do? It has been backed up so I'm not worried about losing data.

I'm back. I guess it is not totally solved though this definitely seemed to help. After I "reset" I can run for about 15 minutes no problem. Then it will automatically turn itself off. After that it is about every two minutes. I reset again...same routine. OR if I have not used it for a while (like earlier) I get about 15 minutes before it starts it's nasty routine. Do you have another suggestion/next step?

Thanks.
