DNS services high after upgrade to iOS 7

Hello all,

after updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 I've noticed (thanks to the new "use cellular data for" feature) that system services uses large amounts of cellular data, especially DNS Services (2 MB in 7 days) and iTunes accounts (1.7 in 7 days). While this is not a lot of bandwidth (overall 8 MB in a week), it is much more than my other android devices and from what I used to spend in terms of cellular data on iOS 6. And since I have a limited data program, I'd hate to spend some 40 MB on something that was just not there before updating.

I contacted my supplier but they ensured me no DNS changes have been made.

Any idea how to address this? I would change the DNS to a public one if I could, unfortunately this is not possible with cellular data.

I have the exact same issue... and a quick web search shows we aren't the only ones. I have settings set to limit cellular as much as possible, inlcuding 'no cellular' for app store. My strong suspicion is that the new MPTCP feature overides user preferences for system services, routing over cellular. I'm thinking app updates are the trigger for "iTunes accounts" and regardless of not allowing cellular, if it is a system service, MPTCP overides.

Can anyone weigh in on my theory? Can anybody from Apple verify?

In the meantime a full upgrade (1.20gb via iTunes, not OTA) to iOS 7.0.2 seems to have fixed the "DNS Services" problem for me; now I only have to figure out why "iTunes accounts" remains high even though I cancelled automatic updates (both on cellular and WIFI) and pretty much everything iTunes-related on cellular.

My wife and I are both having this data issue with DNS & iTunes accounts being high. 19MB & 13MB respectively. Also, messaging services is almost at 30 MB. I am resetting network settings to see what this is all about. We are mostly always on wifi and even when we are, verizon logs show that data is being used. even while we sleep, at 2:45 am in the morning. Why is wifi not being used?
