location based reminders not working iOS 7

I am having this exact problem.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7

yes, i have asked Siri to set a number of location based Reminders "Remind me when i get home to feed the cats," Siri creates the Reminder, i press Confirm, i even check that my home location is set, it is, but nothing happens, no alarm sound when i arrive home. this feature used to work all the time in pre-ios 7, in fact it was very handy.

I don't know if this helps, but check to see that the Maps program acknowledges your address.

I live on a short street Maps thinks that the house numbers run from 2 to 19. My address is in the twenties; therefore it will never alert me when I get home because it thinks my house number doesn't exist.

I solved the problem this way:

I started using a Location based app (LocationMinder) that uses Geofencing.

I can now set a pinpont on a map in the app and it will alert me when I get near that point.

I can set up a number of locations I visit, and have it alert me when I am within a specified distance of that location.

This method works for me.

Since upgrading ti iOS 7 mine does the same thing. The only time it reminds me when I set a location is when I actually launch the app. Super frustrating, I used to use this function all the time.

In iOS7, currently, location-based reminders won't fire if the Reminders app is explicitly terminated by the user. That is if the user removes it from the Multi-Tasking application list (brought up with a double-press of the Home button).

Also, Background App Refresh needs to be on for Reminders for location-based reminders to fire.

So, in order to have location-based reminders to work on iOS7, you need:

- Reminders to be either in the foreground or in the background (after launching Reminders, you can press the Home button and use other apps)

- The general switch under Settings > General > Background App Refresh set to ON

- The Reminders switch under Settings > General > Background App Refresh set to ON

It seems stupid/backwards that you would have to have the app open all the time and Background App Refresh really drains my battery so i had to turn it off. I hope they fix this because this is something I use all the time.

In iOS 7 location based Reminders no longer function unless the Reminders app is running in the background.

If I ask Siri to remind me of things when I arrive or leave a location she confirms the request by saying "Here is the reminder for when you get home, should I create it?" I then confirm and she says ,"I'll remind you". She doesn't mention that Reminders needs to be active in order to remind me.

If this is intended behavior in iOS 7 this is a major step backward in terms of intuitive functionality and ease of use. I mean, I'm asking Siri to remind me of stuff because I'm probably not going to remember to do something. Why should I have to additionally remember to have Reminders running in the background to receive a Reminder notification? Very counter intuitive.

Steps that I have taken to try and resolve issue:

• Restore as new iPhone and manually install all apps

• Make sure that Siri is accessing my correct home and office location through my contact information.

• Made sure Reminder is in my Notification Center and all notifications types are turned on in the Notification Center

• Make sure the Do Not Disturb feature is not running either manually or scheduled

• Make sure Siri is on and has "my info" correct

• Make sure Background App Refresh is on and that it is turned on for Reminders

• Make sure a sound has been selected for Reminders in the Sounds settings

• Make sure Location Services are turned on gloabally and that it is turned on for Reminders and Siri specifically.

• Make sure all System Services are turned on

• Make sure I have cell signal when I arrive at places I am supposed to be reminded at

Still doesn't work!!

Same problem here. None of my location based reminders are working. I've tried many of the fixes listed by others in this forum. My new iPhone 5s running iOS 7.0.2 just isn't living up to Apple's usually high standards.

Do they work if Reminders is either in the foreground or in the background?

Update:

I have found that Reminders WILL notify me, even if the app is NOT running in the foreground or background, ONLY IF the reminder is based on time (not location).

Reminders based on location will not work unless the Reminders app if running in the background. I spoke with two Senior Technical Advisors yesterday and they both agreed that this should not be happening. They put in bug tickets with the iOS Engineers and urged me to put in a bug report as well. You can put in your own bug report here:

Yep! I'm having the same problem. When I started working with Apple Support on this issue, I would ask Siri to remind me of something when I "get home" or when I "leave work" and she would say OK, ask me to confirm it, and then set the reminder. It would be in reminders correctly but it would never actually go off. In my case, it didn't make any difference if the app was open or in the background, it still wouldn't go off. USUALLY. Every once in a while, when I would open the app, all of the reminders would go off randomly. NOW, after trouble shooting with Apple for days, I can't even get Siri to set them correctly. I will ask her to set the reminder and when I look it will be in my "Target" list or my "To Do" list. It's a mess. I, like another user mentioned, used to use this feature all the time. I know that it may seem like a small issue to some, but for me, now it just feels like my phone is broke. I am definitely NOT an iOS7 fan.

Solution: Navigate to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Location & Privacy.

After resetting location & privacy, ask Siri to remind you to do something when you arrive to (or leave from) a known location. Siri will ask you to give her permission to access your location. Once you have done so, ask Siri to remind you to do something when you arrive to (or leave from) a known location. Siri will then ask you to allow reminders to access your location. Once you have done so, location based reminders should work.

Reminders does not need to be open to get alerts.

Should fix Find My Friends notifications as well.

Allow Reminders to run in background.

Hello, I have tried your solution (suggestion) several times and Reminder still does not work. The one feature I used more than any other, and it stopped working the day of the "UPDATE".

I have to believe Apple is working on a bug fix; I cannot be the only one having this issue. I went as far as swapping my phone with refurbished phone at Apple Store. (If my tech knew anything, she hid it well)

Just by chance, you would not have a more recent fix or suggestion? I have tried everything. I pick things up very quickly; this is not me, this is a software issue. Thank You.

Have you tried to launch Reminders, press the Home button to put it in the background, and leave it in the background (not swiping it out of the App Switcher)?

Also, could you confirm that you have the following?

- The general switch under Settings > General > Background App Refresh set to ON

AND

- The Reminders switch under Settings > General > Background App Refresh set to ON
