Before you buy that Google phone (and if you do buy the Moto X since it is made in my environs and I know people who work there) call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service and explain your issue. Keep asking to speak to someone higher up if you get stone-walled.

If you have any concerns about security on your phone you might want to do some research prior to switching to Android.

Thanks for all the kind responses - i really appreciate you're trying to help me.

I will try to format my phone once again and reinstall everything without the backup right now.

jesus:) but will it ever be posssible to go back to a previous version for us, the dumb hasty ones? cuz now we get it. stupid thing to do. but it is still 21st century nothing is irreversible **** sake.. . and besides, that notification when a new version pops up can be really annoying. you just want to update already and get on with it. really miss the old lock screen

It probably will (as it was that often in the past), but at least it won't be officially supported ;-) Which won't matter for most people.

    So I tried what I was told and I'm happy to announce that at least my lockscreen-problem is gone;

It works WAY faster than before. I simply resetted the phone once again and updated from 7.0.0 to 7.0.3 (I didn't try that before in case it would be possible to downgrade only from 7.0.0 in the future). Safari's still quite slow and another problem, bluetooth-audio-lagging seems to have become even worse, but I can start using my phone right after "waking it up" now, which is an improvement.

I am not able to use my phone with my bluetooth radio anymore (because the audio stutters every 20 secs or so), which is, again, a bit of a... hassle :-S

    its not a problem.

set up icloud for each phone owner, and when you set up the phone the first time set that up for that persons icloud. then go to settings and disable the contacts and calenders.

    do this for each phone.

Then go into the phone and set up a second icloud account and than go to settings and enable only contacts and calanders. do this on each phone (second account is the same on all phones)

This way the contacts and calanders will be shared and updated over all devices, but facrtime settings emails etc are set to the phones only.

    Works on Macs aswell.

That will only work if you can find one which is probably tough at this point.

Actually it is not. My phone 5 developed a rattle. The battery was lose. The Apple store wanted to do a repair and I said OK as that was my only choice. Upon opening the phone Apple discovered the speakers were also loose so the next option was a replacement phone. Apple had none in the store and ordered a replacement. The replacement took 3 days to arrive.

Upon powering on the phone I was greeted with an IOS 6.1.3 screen. However, I had to update to IOS 7 as my backups were done with IOS 7 and IOS 7 backups will not restore to IOS 6.

I would suspect that most, if not all, of the replacement phones in the 4, 4S and 5 (not 5S) are all running the 6.1.3 (or some version of IOS 6).

If you testdrive a new car it doesent mean you gone buy it, you can go back to your old previus one....

How can i tell in advance if the new one feels good?

Same goes for ios7 my iphone4 is slow after upgrading, why don´t Apple offer ios7 lite for older iphones?

Or sell signed ios6, or at least don´t ignore your customers!

Apple is not here, so no point in addressing them. This is a technical User to User forum - users helping other users.

Just for a point of reference, Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS software for a variety of reasons - they don't do it just to be mean. Downgrading iOS software would result in even more problems than you are experiencing now - many of which would simply not be able to be fixed. Can you tell me of any Android device that provides such a path?

Downgrading OS software is a different matter. A number of users have pointed out that people who didn't like Windows 8 and were able to go back to Windows 7 or Windows Vista without any issues. You can do the saem with Mac OSX software.

However, I am not aware of any device-level vendor that provides upgrades for their Operating System software as a "test drive" and then provides a way to go back to the previous verison of the software.... If you can provide an example of this happening anywhere in the industry, I'd be interested to know the circumstances, and experience.

    Cheers,

Sad to say that Apple is not being very smart about this. Not allowing us to choose if we want to keep using iOS 7 or downgrade our devices is not a good idea. I know a lot of people who already have gone over to the Androids due to this reason. I, myself will be making the switch soon. Apple should realize that the iPhone loving fans will still use the iPhones that's if they use their favorite software. YOU ARE FORCING US TO USE IOS7 WHEN A LOT OF US DO NOT WANT TO. Shaking my head at Apple. Guess by the time you guys decied to allow that option a lot of your "iPhone loving fans" would have already switched over to another manufactor. Just think about it Apple. Be smart. God bless.

Yes, I am having a problem. It *****. Pictures do not do the "feel" of the new software justice. And seriously, who researches an upgrade? You just do it and if it doesn't look good you change it. There was nothing warning me I could not change it back once I upgraded.
