Still exploring this problem. The flash works every time with several camera apps (Camera+ and Top Camera) biut still only works intermittently with the camera app. In all cases the flash setting is to "on". I have tried shutting down and restarting the camera app, which didn't make it any more consistent. I tried changing the flash setting to both "off" and "auto" and then to "on" which didn't make any difference. This appears to a be problem with the camera app, but I'm not sure why it's not more widely reported if that's the case.

New situation (in fact all this is random): sometimes the Facetime camera works, sometimes not and now the flashlight works, the main camera worked for a while but without the display (showing a stuck image), without the ability to see in the gallery the photo taken by touching it in he corner of the photo app.

I've seen in other discussions that Apple Stores have been replacing iPhone 5 units whose cameras failed. But I live in Lebanon (no Apple stores) and I need to know whether I should wait for a software update since my iPhone 5 cameras died with the iOS7 update or send it to an Apple store in Europe for replacement before the end of my guarantee. Someone from Apple please?

I had the same problem it's definitely a software issue because the camera would sometimes work in camera apps but now I could not switch cameras at all.

I may have found a solution of course I probably won't get credit for thanks to Apple.

I believe the problem arises from a bug when the camera is used in lock mode, try restarting your phone with the home and power button. Then open your camera in locked mode and set the flash to auto. Maybe take a few pictures, switch the camera back and fourth, turn HDR on and off, but make sure the flash is set to auto before you unlock the phone. Heck even try playing with the flashlight.

After I did this in locked mode to my surprise my camera and flashlight are now fully functional after I have unlocked it with the password. I'm not to sure what triggered this bug but when I first got iOS 7 and played with my phone some how I unlocked the lock screen without putting in a password. Just by using the camera and the notification and control Center, I unlocked the phone which might of triggered the bug.
