Mac Book Pro froze and now wont boot up

Hi

Im hoping someone out there can help. My Mac Book Pro (Intel) froze today so I had to force shut down by pressing the power off button. When I turned it on again, I get the apple startup chime and it brings me to the gray screen with the apple symbol (as normal) but the wheel just keep spinning. It doens't go beyond this. I have tried resetting the SMC but still no joy

Anyone out there that can help...im seriously tearing my hair out/panicking
