Different songs are popping up in my iTunes account?

Hello,

Something weird is going on with my desktop version of itunes, so please bare with me while I try to explain.

I plugged in my iPod Touch 4th Generation (on iOS 6.whatever-the-newest-one-is.) to my Toshiba Laptop earlier, and iTunes popped up like it usually did. However, instead of displaying my songs, apps, ect, it displayed three songs I have never seen before in my life.

So after tinkering around on iTunes (I don't know which version I have, I know it's not the newest version though. I downloaded it during May or June of 2012 I believe, and have not updated it since.) I finally managed to sign into my account, which I hoped would solve the problem but it hasn't.

I am terribly confused. Where on Earth is MY account with MY songs? All of my songs are still on my iPod (and no, these mysterious new songs that appear on iTunes are NOT on my iPod.)

If you need any more information, I will tell you more. At this point I don't really know what to say, as I am confused by the whole thing. If it's any help I JUST updated my iPod to iOS 6 point whatever on Sunday, this is my first time plugging it into my laptop since then.

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.4

Hello Crayola Crayon,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the music library you used to have is no longer showing up when you open iTunes, and it is instead showing you 3 songs you did not purchase.

I was thinking that it might be possible that the iTunes library got moved or iTunes is looking at a different library than what it was. I would look around your computer for a folder named iTunes and if you find one that has your content in it, and use this article to point iTunes back to it.

If you just cannot find an iTunes library with your content in it, you always have the option of redownloading your purchases from the iTunes Store free of charge:

Take care,
