How do I set up a fingerprint after the initial set up failed?

I tried to set up my fingerprint upon the initial set up, but it failed for some reason. I keep trying to set up my fingerprint again, but it keeps saying 'Sorry, the operation was not successful. Please go back and try again.' However, when I do go back to try again, it automatically keeps going to this fail screen. What do I do now to set up my fingerprint?

Hello there, SethC33.

dleaonhardt offers a good option. If that doesn't work for you, the following Knowledge Base article offers up some additional steps for troubleshooting Touch ID:

iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5883

Particularly:

Troubleshooting Touch ID

  1. Ensure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning.
  2. Tap Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints and verify:
    1. Passcode Unlock or iTunes & App Store is enabled.
    2. One or more fingerprints have been enrolled.
  3. If one finger isn't working, tap Edit in Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > Editto delete and then reenroll the finger.
  4. If that finger still isn't working, try enrolling a different finger.
  5. If you are unable to enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.

If you are unable to complete Touch ID registration in iOS Setup Assistant, restart your iPhone 5s.

* Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin may affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, cooking, or other conditions or changes that affect your fingerprint.

I am having the exactly the same problem. As soon as I hit add a fingerprint, it goes straight to failed.

The problem is that I bought this iPhone directly from ColorWare, not Apple.

And I am suspicious that may Colorware switched the original LCD from mine to someone's during color custom process, if you are correct about LCD unit.

Does anyone have a way to fix this Touch ID issue other than switching the LCD unit?
