My battery is saying "service required"

I downloaded coconut battery and it says it is still at 77% capacity at 4460 mAh it has had 549 battery load cycles. Does it hurt my macbook to use that battery until it dies or I want a longer charge life? It does seem to not last as long fully charged as it used to, however my mac never leaves home so leaving it plugged in is easy. I just want to mke sure it wont damage the machine at all.

It won't damage the Mac, but be mindful of any change in behaviour, particularly with your trackpad. On rare occasions a battery will swell as it reaches end of life, causing pressure underneath the trackpad. The first symptom of this is an unresponsive trackpad or one that seems to select things on its own. If the swelling becomes excessive more extensive damage can result.

Replace it with a genuine Apple battery. Third party batteries can be unreliable and won't last as long.
