No contact names for imessage after ios7 upgrade on ipad

could try signing out of ur messages and signing back in... dont know if this would fix the issue or not, just something to try

I have the same problem on my iPad mini. No contact names, only phone numbers on iOS 7.0.2. My iPhone 4 is working well.

When I try to see my contact info in an iMessage on my iPad the contact info is displayed right, with the phone number. But the contact name doesn't show up in my contact list in iMessage.

I think the iMessage App mismatches the phone number notation with the Contacts App on iPad. Maybe it's a bug in iOS 7.x.x, I don't know.

OK, I think I found a solution:

My language of the iPad is different from the language I speak. Hence the notation of phone numbers is also different.

Your Apple ID is used in a certain country with its own notation of phone numbers: Settings>Messages>Send&Receive>Apple ID. Tap your Apple ID and then tap Change Location to find out which locattion iMessage set to.

Then go to Settings>General>International>Language. Set the language according to your language iMessage is set to. Also, change the Region Format to the location of iMessage.

Restart the iPad and for my all my contact names appeared, instead of their phone numbers. Now all is set and you can change your language and region format back, still keeping your contact names in iMessage.

I seriously think this is a bug, because after a while, if you reset the language settings – especially the Region Format – the phone numbers instead of the contact names will appear again. So I think there is a mismatch in the phone number recognition between the different Region Formats of iOS 7

The only problem for me is that i am form Serbia, and my country is not on the list for iMessage locations 😟 And i really would like to solve this problem to, because it is really getting anoying.

I have the same problem and it only appeared with ios7.

I've tried the language settings and its made no difference. So frustrating.

I'm from Serbia too. In the list of countries I choose Montenegro and that solved the problem for me.

I've continued to search for a solution to the problem and am yet to find one. Has anyone had a result perhaps from another discussion string?

For some reason after I updated to iOS 7, my iCloud contacts were shut off. I fixed this issue by going Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>iCloud (under accounts)>switch iCloud to on.

Thanks for the continuing post. I've tried the most recents ones from yeahtails and chelseamarie214 -- no joy I'm afraid.

I have to admit to being totally annoyed by this quirk of iOS7.

Still hoping for a fix.

Where have you changed country? In iMessages locations or somewhere else? Have you changed language and region format also? I have ipad and iphone 5 and it doesn't work on neither of them!
