Yes, dictation and Siri have definitely gotten better in the last two days.  It's still not perfect.  There continue to be long lags at times, but the lags are not happening as often.  Let's just hope that whatever they're doing to fix this will continue until it's fully fixed!!

Maybe. Until today. When it's just as bad as it ever was. Intermittently. That's the crazy thing. It will work fine for a few sentences or message. Then it blows up in the next moment. Getting really really angry about this with Apple.

There's been no change for me today. I'm dictating this message. It's usually very slow, as it has been ever since the upgrade to iOS 7. Sometimes, it's instantaneous. I guess it depends on whether the squirrels powering Apple's servers are being fed regularly.

In the spirit of being funny, tempting the fates, etc, I tried to dictate my post using Dictation -HA, little circle did iu't infinite loop thing...

I think Storico explained the situation very clearly; Verizon - iOS 7 - 4S, since the day of the upgrade, the degree of intermittence has rendered the voice to text feature consistently unreliable, therefore undermining any confidence I have in its usefulness.  I am reminded of an old Apple tag line, I'm paraphrasing here; 'it isn't how powerful your technology is, it's how powerful it makes you' substitute powerful for productive and you get my drift.  W the F Apple?!?

Please post a useful reply in this forum. I've tried each of the helpful suggestions of the other posters here. Please advise.

I've been experiencing the same issues on my iPhone 5 since upgrading to ios7. I had read something about Siri. Using a multipath TCP connection that splits it's data between wifi and cellular when possible. On a whim I tried turning off my WiFi and Siri (and dictation) started to work perfectly. Your mileage may vary, but give it a try.

If the above in fact helps the dictation problem, it doesn't fix it for those of us who have iPads that only have WiFi capabilities.  The real answer, of course, if for Apple to fix whatever is causing the problem, so that everyone can once again have a problem-free dictation experience, no matter how they're connected.

It's been too long without Apple replying. I suggest we start also going to this Wall Street Journal report site and adding comments to the report on Apple iOS 7 bugs. If we get lucky, maybe the reporter will pick up on our comments and start investigating. If someone has a better site or person to contact I can put some pressure on Apple to respond, I welcome their information.

Apple is not likely to reply here. This is, in general, strictly a user forum. They do often monitor threads but are notoriously tight-lipped about bugs and fixes. They do sometimes pop in to comment or ask for more user data. I've been part of threads where they've done that.

My guess is this is one of many bugs they are working on - it's certainly not my biggest issue with iOS 7 - and hopefully a fix will be part of the .1 update.

It is a good idea to try and give it publicity elsewhere as well as report it directly as a bug to Apple. But don't take their silence here, in this user forum, as evidence they are ignoring it.

I'd like to note that I'm still having the same problems that are I and others have been noting here for weeks. Sometimes, dictation and Siri work perfectly; other times, it takes 15 to 30 seconds; and still other times the circle spins  and nothing ever comes.

I have a new iPhone 5S, and have nearly perfect results using Siri and dictation with it.

And I'd like to note that I, too, am continuing to experience the exact same problems as detailed above. Hard to imagine that such an advanced, incredible technology company as Apple has not corrected this issue — or even responded to it!

    Hoping for better...

This is truly undermining my loyalty to my Apple products. They used to just "work." Now they are broken, and no one at the big fruit company seems to care.

My first impressions, after updating to iOS 7.0.3 is that it may have fixed the dictation problem. I am, in fact, dictating this reply with my iPad dictation feature. I would be interested to know if others have success after updating.

I messed around with Siri earlier and it seemed better. I'm dictating this reply right now and it seems good too, so here's hoping!

Cautious optimism here. iPhone dictation seems to be working flawlessly at the moment. And it had been mostly on but partly off earlier before the update. I am dictating in long trunks and it is getting it. Have our supplications been answered? It's May will be. If so, many thanks to the Apple elves.

iPad updating now. Hope to have the same result there.

I have been using the ios 7.03 software update and voice dictation feature successfully for a couple days now. It appears that they have fixed the bug. Funny, I took a look at the release notes and there's not a mention of this bug.  Darn nice to have it fixed.
