    Hi larissachim,

They likely ja*lbr*ke your phone and did a Restore to 7.0.x. This works but Apple's discussion thread doesn't allow us to talk about how to do this on you iDevice. Glad you found this solution on your own. Thank you for sharing back with the group!

    Hi jc matus,

You're welcome! I'm glad one of our workarounds to the Error (3) issue worked for you. Thank you for sharing your results back with the group.

Hi all... long time iPhone user and also do repairs. I was fixing my someone's iPhone 5 by putting a new power/audio flex cable because of his faulty decrease volume button. Put it back together and got "Searching" for network problem. Took it apart and put original Apple flex cable back in, same thing... could not pick up a signal. Checked all connections over and over, nothing. So I told my friend to restore it on his computer, and he told me that it couldn't restore. Kept freezing at the end. So now I have it and have tried several times to do the restore but it keeps getting stuck at the very end "Verifying...". I get error (3) and tried the freezer trick twice. Nope. So now it's stuck on Connect to iTunes and doesn't restore.

    Brick?

    Or hope?

Error (3) IS NOT a baseband hardware failure as some miss-informed Applecare Engineers have been telling some customers. These Applecare Engineers need to go back and talk to the head of Applecare Engineering to get an update on the true cause of the Error (3) issue so that they are not inadvertantly miss-leading their valued customers.

Actually I think it is a baseband hardware failure. The iPhone 4s that Ive got error 3 on was dropped in a toilet a while back. Although the rest of the phone still worked fine, cellular functions such as calling and texting stopped working. (basically the phone was now an iPod touch). Only once i did a restore did the phone enter a vegatative state, which is what annoys me. It was somewhat functional, and then something that seems safe bricked it.

    Hi Coqui258,

...searching... Can be caused by a number of things. A common source of the ...searching... issue is a sim card that is not fully seated or bad. Given that you had taken the iDevice apart, remove and reinsert the sim card and see if you get past ...searching... If not, look at some of the other threads on this forum for the ...searching... topic. If you are still on Error (3), please upload your logs (explained how in an earlier note on this thread) for me and I will review and share with my Apple contact.

I searched around for the ...Searching... problem and saw that the sim card could be the problem, but no matter how many times I've tried to take out and put the sim back in, didn't work. I even tried my 5S sim in it and nothing. Didn't even say "No Sim Card Detected" like normal.

But now that it's stuck on Connect to iTunes, I can't get back to anything at all. I'll look for how to upload the logs (do you know what page it's on?)

    Hi Chromium,

Yes, it is possible for Error (3) to be a hardware baseband issue if you dropped it in a toilet. For most followers on this thread Error (3) is NOT a hardware issue, but a firmware issue that we are working hard to convince Apple to roll out a firmware fix, for those that the other workarounds that this group has derived, do not work for.

(If this applies: "Dude, when vomiting, remove iPhone from top shirt pocket BEFORE bending over toilet!" (joke))

My 4s is exhibiting the same issues. I've tried the freezer method, although only for a few minutes at a time. I'm not hopeful it's going to work.

I went to the Apple store just now and the lady said it's probably the logic board on its way out or some sort of glitch during the upload process. She was not very helpful nor sympathetic. It may have been because it was close to closing time.

Are you guys still collecting log files?

    Hi debaire,

Yes, please upload the log files for us.

30-40 minutes in the freezer, or a colder environment, is needed to maximize the probability of the freezer technique being successful.

I tried 40 minutes in the freezer and when that didn't work I tried it again except I left the phone in the freezer during the restore. Nothing worked.

I hope that helps. I actually have around 20 log files. Do you want to see all of them?
