Mar 20, 2014 1:43 PM in response to pc-nord.dkby EdfromOSMS,Dennis, how long and how many times did you try. Some had to leave it in the freezer for a few hours and had to try more than once.

Mar 20, 2014 1:44 PM in response to hp021by eduybolo, hello hp021, in principle it is assumed that these out of warranty, you can try getting close to a apple store and let them see this thread and the solutions that some lucky people have obtained.

Mar 20, 2014 1:50 PM in response to johncali9by eduybolo,I'm wing waiting to contact kennethyoung to see how wearing apple for the update, it is visible that have abandoned us all affected to unknown error (3) Well, it should be someone official apple aware and handling as well as a moderator, as we are abandoned, and no record of the problem, although we have more than 10000 affected with or without waranty

Mar 20, 2014 2:19 PM in response to hp021by ChrisJ4203,You need to check this support document in regards to your error 9. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 Read the information in ths support document. This is generally related to security software, firewall or bad entries in the host file.

Mar 20, 2014 8:27 PM in response to johncali9by Zach Palmer,Hey, got the same sequence of problems. But after updating iphone5 to 7.1. Immediately started searching for network, tried all options. Ended up trying to restore it. Wanted me to turn off 'find my iphone' then said it couldnt de register from icloud. Ended up putting into recovery mode, try to restore it and get error 3. Have turned all anti viruses and firewalls off. Have tried 40 minutes in the freezer with no avail. Now going to try and restore it while its in the freezer...

Mar 21, 2014 11:00 AM in response to baxterica007by kennethyoung,ERROR (3) UPDATE:
Hi everyone. Been busy but here's an update.
There was no fix put into iOS 7.1 for Error (3). As I had stated before, 7.1 had been in beta (developer testing) for 3 months, so the odds of a 'fix' making it is was "very low" at best and it didn't happen.
It is still not a sure thing that a fix for this Error (3) issue will "ever" be put out for any iOS release. Even with over 50K hits on this thread, there are over 800 MILLION iOS devices out there. Sadly, this problem is not even a speck of dust on the radar screen as far as being a 'issue", even though I personally don't think it looks good to have a "solution" for an iOS update bug that requires the use of a "freezer" as a fix that works about 6/10 times.
I have done what I can to "encourage" Apple to roll out a fix, but (1) its not clear if I've been able to push enough buttons to have it happen "eventually" or, (2) that there will be a 7.1.x release for such a fix to be 'rolled into'. Unless a pressing issue arises, we are unlikely to see another iOS release until iOS 8, and there is no "guarantee" that your bricked iDevice will even get a 'fix' in that release.
What can those of you with still "bricked" iDevices do?
Do as I and several others on this thread who have been doing what we can to support everyone have recommended:
(1) Call Applecare and register a complaint/bug
(2) Go to a store, multiple time, speak with an Apple Genius on the issue.
(3) If you are friends with influential bloggers/editors, share your story. A 'bright light' often kills bugs
(4) Try the techniques in this thread "more than once", including the freezer method, at the lowest setting your freezer can be set at
(5) Think 3-5 times before you update the iOS again on your iDevice that you successfully Restored after getting an Error (3). If you do update the iOS, I recommend doing so only after you have "freezered" your device for 30 minutes. Error (3) issue is most prevalent at "normal" human temperatures.
(6) Share your strories back to this thread and keep following it. I will continue to do what I can to push this, but I don't think I can do much more.
There is one more thing you can do to help me raise myself up a bit in Apple eyes (maybe).
VOTE ME UP on all my feedback on this thread. I'm not 100% sure how much weight Apple puts into their "Point" system, but it can't hurt.
Hang in there. Reminder, I don't need anymore Log files. Apple knows how to fix this now. It's just "convincing" them to do so.

The only person who can give you points is the thread originator. See here: https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/reputation.html
There's no poularity contest potential here.
