Q: How do I find a photo in new iOS7 photo app?

Can anybody help with the new Photo app on iOS7?

I have about 5000 photos taken around the world over the last fifty years. With the old Photo app, if I wanted to find a photo taken in (say) Argentina it was easy - just go to Places view, zoom to Argentina on the map, zoom to where I took the photo, and then click on a red pin. The map was a fabulous intuitive tool to easily find photos.

How do I do this now? The only way I have found is in "collections" where I have to try to remember what year I took the photo then squint through pages of minute thumbnails. I usually give up without finding the photo. Is there not an easier way?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.0.x), Thunderbolt

The new iOS7 Photo app is so disgusting visually and so difficult to use that I have given up storing photos on my devices and just browse them now on my Macbook which (at least for the moment) still has a Places view and a black background for the photos.

I suppose one good thing to come out of this is that I now have loads of newly released storage space on my devices so I don't have to replace them any time soon as I had planned.

I experienced the same issue you discovered and I agree it's a backwards step.  It's frustrating when you discover lost features in a new OS that clearly could have been included.  I think Apple needs to change their design process, they need to take the time to identify the current features of the system and what makes them useful.  Then they can build upon them. I do think there are a many good improvements with IOS 7 though.

I also had the same question and very disappointed because there wasn't photo map anymore.

But after browsing for answers and tapping on every possible menu on photos in ios7, I finally find the Map, although not as great as the old one on ios6, here is screens capture, I couldn't explain it more elaborately, just try and have some fun, good luck

This is no help at all in finding a photo. if I look at a photo in my library, I know immediately where I took it - it is of no interest at all to tap the photo and see it on a map.

I used the old photo map for finding a photo of interest - eg if I wanted to find a photo that I took in Chile I could just zoom to Chile. Now I have to spend hours squinting through realms of tiny thumbnails. I have become so frustrated that I no longer synch my photo library to my iPhone and iPad.

My guess is that Apple have decided that the photo apps should from now on only be used to view Photo Stream pictures, and don't want people to sync their library to the devices.
