Bootcamp 4 and Windows 7 64-bit

I would like to have Windows 7 64-bit installed on my Macbook Pro (17-inch, Early 2011). Since I have Bootcamp 4, I'm not able to install Windows 7 64-bit. Bootcamp 5 makes available the installation of Windows 7 64-bit.

Can I upgrade from Bootcamp 4 to Bootcamp 5 so I could then install Windows 7 64-bit? If so, what must I do to upgrade to Bootcamp 5?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Boot Camp 4 also supports the installation of a 64-bit Windows 7 version on your MacBook Pro, so that's not the problem. Another thing is if the latest Boot Camp version for your MacBook is Boot Camp 5.

Follow Apple's steps to install Windows 7 > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1583/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.7.pdf Instead of downloading the Boot Camp drivers from Boot Camp Assistant, download them from the Apple website and follow its steps > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638

Thank you for the quick reply mende1, and I appreciate the warm welcome to the community.

I was under the strong impression via the chart at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634 ...User uploaded file

... that the installation of only Windows 7, 32-bit was allowed since I have Bootcamp 4.

What am I misunderstanding? Any clarification/specifics would be appreciated.

This list shows up the most recent Boot Camp version for a 64-bit Windows 7 version in this MacBook Pro, but Boot Camp 4 works without any problem. Just click the 5 below Windows 7, 64-bit to download the Boot Camp drivers you will install
