Having opened the ipad, the first time i take a screenshot the ipad2 crashes & shots down. If i then reopen the ipad & take another screenshot it works fine... & can take as many pics as I like. If I then close the ipad & open it & try to take another screenshot it crashes again ...
Try to reset the device. It can help to clear up odd issues that can crop up.
*Device reset*
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

It is clearly a bug with ios7 - I'l report it & I presume Apple will add to their list.
A shame they don't do a proper beta test rather than letting their users be guinea pigs. I dont mind with cheap products but expect better from Apple...

Since the issue seems to be isolated to you - I have no issues whatsover takling screen shots with any of the three devices running iOS 7, nor does anyone I know - no, its not a bug. And not something Apple's testing would have necessarily uncovered, or that would be fixed in an update. If the reset described above doesn't work, you might consider a restore.
See Stedman1's note above. It clearly isn't isolated to me..
Have reset & restored ipad & now upgraded to new 7.0.2 but still have screenshot problem the first time you use it...
Anyone any ideas?

I am having the same issue. I take a lot of screen shots, so it's really annoying. I am only having this problem on my ipad. Screen shots are working fine on iPhone. I hope they fix it soon.

Same issue here with my iPad 3...very annoying. I have taken several screenshots and did not have a problem, until the iOS 7 update. Obviously, there is a problem, if so many of us are posting it. Please Apple, address this issue.
As we know, this is a users website so as Stedman suggests above, we all need to report the bug to Apple directly on http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
As I said earlier, it is disappointing that Apple don't bother to test new software properly; it isn't difficult & the fault is widespread & immediately noticeable...
I am having the same issue. I have wiped my iPad and returned it to factory default settings and it still takes random screenshots and asks to power off. This is very frustrating. The iPad has the latest OS.
Has anyone figured out how to fix this? Any suggestions??
