So how do you exit this snapshot so you can go into time machine and make a new backup?

I'm trying to use time machine to make a backup, When I open time Machine it goes into the local snapshots and I don't know how to get out of it to get to the actual application where I can perform a backup.

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Here is some great information for Time Machine from Pondini:

I don't use it, but as far as I know, TM works automatically and updates every hour, so there shouldn't be a need for you to do anything manually. You can go to System Preferences > Time Machine and set up your desired options.
