Since yesterday I am having the same problem sending messages with outlook and my me mail account. Receiving messages is no problem. This happened suddenly ( first few times restarting outlook worked) but since then nothing.
Me too. Since I updated my iPhone last night to iOS 7.0. Very frustrating. Only affecting my .me email account.
I have seen on the web that many others are having the same problem, hope Apple can fix quickly
This has been driving me crazy the last 48 hours, I got the same erroneous password message.
I just resolved my problem by doing the steps on this link:

This was the key change I made from those steps in that link:
In the Authentication drop down box, click to select Use Incoming Server Info.
Once I did this, all those stuck messages in my email box finally got sent. Argh. Why did I just have to spend the last two hours figuring this out...
This did not work for me.
I'm having a similar problems with my @me.com email and Outlook 2010. I've invested 1-2 hours on this! Ever possible solution. Nothing has worked.
Apple please help.
Oddly enough I just paid for the annual iCloud storage... What I am paying for if I don't get the support?

I talked to Microsoft, they claim Apple is working on a resolution - don't hold your breath.
NOTE: I can receive emails but I CANNOT SEND.

1) Send test e-mail message: An unknown error occurred, error code: 0x80004005

The more of us emailing, the more pressure to get it done quickly I'm sure.
JPRichards, I have the same problem. Started a day or two ago. Happened with Outlook on both my machines (office and home). I can receive e-mails just fine, but I can't send out.
It appears this is a pretty widespread issue. Apple must've changed something on their end. Whatever they changed, it prevents Outlook and other third party e-mail applications from sending outgoing mail via Apple's smtp server.
Until Apple fixes this, we have to log onto icloud.com and send mail through there.
UPDATE: I changed my outgoing SMTP server to p06-smtp.mail.me.com and it worked. Apparently that server can process and send outgoing messages.

I am having the same problem which emerged late yesterday Sept 26. I have attempted every suggestion made on this thread and iCloud support pages but nothing works. Very frustrating. I am going to call the local Apple Store to see if they might offer a solution... and continue to monitor here to see if someone comes up with something 🙂
