Apple Mail downloading from GoDaddy in an endless loop. How to stop this?

My MAIL program has suddenly started downloading multiple copies of each email from my GoDaddy account each morning when I turn my computer on (and when a bunch of emails have accumulated overnight). It appears to be in an endless loop, downloading constantly before GoDaddy's site can delete them. Until I stopped it manually by deleting the messages from the GoDaddy site, it created dupes of everything. Instead of 50 messages I had 200!

GoDaddy tech support had no answer but suspects a recent upgrade or other change to Apple Mail. I can download manually first thing in the morning and then manually erase the messages, but this is not a great solution. Suggestions?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Show Info

from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.

  • Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
  • In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
  • What is the Modified date?
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard ( command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it ( command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
