Airport Express not visible

I have a friend with an Airport Extreme, which is hardwired to their ISP router, and an Airport Express they want to use as a range extender. I used the Airport Utility to set them up and received no error messages. Both items appear in the AU and I believe I configured them as instructed. We are able to connect to the Extreme without issue, but the Express is not appearing on the list of available networks to any of the clients. Am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If the AirPort Express is configured to extend the wireless range of the Extreme it would not appear to wireless clients as another wireless network. Instead it would be working with the Extreme to create a single "extended" wireless network. Wireless clients would only "see" this single network.
