Daughter forgot her passcode - no backup and she needs her Poppy's voice memos

My daughter forgot her passcode and we have no backup. We don't want to just do a restore it and loose all the information because the iPod has voice memos on it from her Poppy, who recently passed away. The iPod 4th Gen touch is running iOS 6.1.3 and the itunes version is 11.0.2.26 and it's on the original computer that it was synced with. I tried backup now and was not able to backup because of the passcode lock. If I restore and choose to the back up option given right after you click restore, will it create a backup for me or give me the same message it gave me when I chose back up now? Is there anyway around the password or a software that will give us he password? I saw something about enabling disk use of the ipod and going through windows my computer, but I can't get it come up as a portable storage device, only as a camera. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice that anyone might have.

The enable disk usage is for classic iPods that use a hard drive for storage. The iPod Touch uses flash memory. If your device has been synced before and your iPod is just disabled (just locked for 5, 15 ,30 mins, 1 hr) then sync your iPod to iTunes. It should remove the time for it disabled to guess. If it is completely disabled (must restore), then search around on Google.

If it's been synced before, it should have the backup from the time of the last syncing. So you can put it in Recovery mode and erase the iPod, then you can restore it from your backup in iTunes

To place the device in recovery mode and restore it:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down. Then, while pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

I have not heard about it. However, this

http://www.letsunlockiphone.com/how-to-descrypt-lost-forgotten-passcode-using-ge cko-iphone-toolkit/

says only good for

The program works with iPhone on firmware version 4.x and up to 5.0.1,

It also says:

As to iOS 6.x.x you can read about passcode bug in iOS 6.1.3 and how to bypass it.

However, that only apples to phone (voice dialing) and not iPod.
