iCloud photo stream does not show all photos

I have 1000 photos is my photo stream, however on my Apple TV I just setup, I can only get 322 to show up in the iCloud Photo Stream. I've tried restoring and setting it up again, but I have the exact same numbers of photos.

Is there a reason I can only see 322 out of 1000 photos in my photo stream on the Apple TV?

You don't have 1,000 photos in photostream.

Photo Stream only keeps photos for 30 days, when you turn on photostream on the Apple TV for the first time it will download the photos that are in photo stream at the time. As photo's are removed from Photo stream after 30 days they will stay on your device until your device has 1,000 photos on it, which is why you can see 1,000 photos on your other devices.

This would make sense, but I don't think that'sthe problem.

I have a whole group of photos from Sept 1 that aren't showing, yet photos from Aug 24-30th do show. Also I selected all photo stream photos from 1 month back and I have over 500 photos. And another thing, when I delete photo stream photos they still show on the Apple TV.

Hi Nirvana98109, I understand Winston's logic - and he's correct, but I do feel there's a probem with iCloud Photo Stream after updating my Apple TV to 6.0.

I used Aperture to remove 795 photos from my Photo Stream and did a fresh reload of the same 795 photos back into Photo Stream from a back-up. Both my iPhone and iPad show 795 photos, but Apple TV stops at 338. If I sign-out of iCloud Photos and sign back in again the pictures are out of order and the total picture count drops (i.e., to 337).

On previous versions of my Apple TV's operating system, I would perform the same procedure above and all devices, and Apple TV, would recognize the exact number of photos.

In the meantime, I stay signed out of iCloud Photos on the Apple TV and simply use "home sharing" until a fix is known.

I know this is a software update problem. I have the exact same situation and Apple support was not able to solve the problem after an hour on the phone with them, though they did recognize the problem. Only a few of my new photos will show up in photo stream on Apple TV (3rd gen.). If I take 20 photos in a day, maybe 3 will show up in photostream. The problem is isolated with the Apple tv and does not happen on any other device, and it has only started after the 6.0 update.

I have a similar problem. Apple TV only shows the same couple of hundred photos from a trip I took 6 months ago. I regularly add photos using my iPhone to my iCloud Photo Stream. Yet nothing else will show up. Stranger still, it continues to show photos that I deleted from iCloud and Photo Stream on my Mac and iPhone. This all started after the 6.0 update. I'd like to see my newer photos as I take them when I do screensaver, but only the same old ones continue to show up. Any ideas on a fix?

I noticed the Apple TV was not displaying my photo stream after the update to 6.0. Here is what I did to get it to start displaying my photo stream again.

On your Apple TV go to Settings>iCloud

Click on iCloud Photo Settings

Turn off both the My Photo Stream and Photo Sharing options then turn them back on again

Select Photo Stream from the Settings menu and navigate to select the photo stream you want to use

Preview the slide show

I have about 400 images in the photo stream that I use to display on Apple TV and during the preview it took about two minutes before the images displayed.

Then I tested it in a normal setting where I have slide show starting after two minutes. The TV went to screensaver mode after two minutes and was black for about two minutes before the images appeared. Before the update the images would display shortly after the screensaver kicked on.

I hope this helps!

audiohollywood, thank you for the suggestion but this didn't help.

The problem is that the photostream does not download all the photos in our stream. I have 795 photos in my photostream that are picked up by my iPhone, iPad and iPod, however the Apple TV only takes in 338 photos.

After several attempts, including yours, I still get the same result - 338 photos loaded on Apple TV.

I think v6 has reserved more memory for movies etc. I bet if you put a whole bunch of low res images in the photostream, they will all show. Black screen on screen saver is when there are photos in the stream which have not yet loaded, the thumbnails may have, but not the full size. Even when you don't get all photos in your photostream, once the AppleTV has got the ones it is going to get, the screensaver will work again. Sometimes when you go through the thumbnails, they all appear, but full size images are still loading, or there is a question mark on an image and it will never load. Delete those and the screen saver will work. Still, I think, not enough memory is assigned to the library since the update. If SSD's would come down in price, we could have flash drive AppleTV's like the old Gen 1 hard drive version. That would be perfect.
