Stop request for app update on 4g iPod

I have a 4g iPod running iOS 6.1.3. Every time I turn on the iPod, a badge shows up on the App Store icon indicating that I have one update pending, but when I go to the update section there is no apps listed. Then I select the Purchased apps and one app (TV guide) says it needs an update. Clicking on its icon, I get a pop up saying that the update is for iOS 7, but I can download the older version. I click on OK, the app downloads and installs(?) but the button goes back to saying Update. (Same result if I click Cancel instead) And the badge goes back on the app strore when I turn off and restart the iPod. The Update stripe appears in the app list on iTunes as well. Is there a way to stop the iPod (and iTunes) from telling me to update when I have the newest version compatible with my iOS?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1, 4Gen 32gb

That update/app is then for iOS 7. (Means the update - a new app that needs iOS 7) can't be installed. When you download an older version, you are really loading the version you already have. Test: Search for the app that wants to be updated - in your case that TV Guide app. Scroll down to requirements - and see that the app needs atleast iOS 7.0.

I understand that. But how do I stop having the App Store telling me that I have an update when I don't really? I also just saw a similar question from another person about phantom updates.

This might be a bug. It happened to me a few nights ago on my Mac. I have the iPod Touch (4th generation) running iOS (6.1.3) and it first said I had 4 updates but when I went to update it said there are no updates availabe. Then I though what? Something's not working right so I kept at it and again it said there are 4 available updates. When I went to app store also under the icon instead of saying downloaded (because they were already downloaded) instead it said update. This is in the app store. But yet when I when I went back into iTunes it would again say (there are no available updates for any of your apps) and I'm thinking why when this already told me I have 4 update available is it now saying there are no updates available.

Thinking it was a bug I kept playing with it until I was finally able to update all 4 apps. 2 of the updates were for the enhancement for iOS7 but keep in mind I only have iPod Touch (4th gen) and only 2 of the updates were for the enhancement of iOS7 but I updated all 4 finally. Keep playing with it like I did. I first thought this might have been an incompatibility because I run 6.1.3 and the 2 of the apps were for the enhancement for iOS7 but I was finally able to bring up the page to say you have 4 updates and finally updated all 4 apps. I was thinking those 2 apps for the iOS7 enhancement Pandora & Talk 4 Free (Magic Jack) might not work any more because they were IOS7 enhancement related but I tested them out and there still working OK. I also checked out the iOS version under the apps and they still show iOS 5 and 6 compatible before I updated them just to make sure I wouldn't mess anything up if they stopped working because of iOS7.
