iCloud Email Storage won't delete

I'm attempting to free up some space in my iCloud storage to stay under the 5GB. When I try to manage the storage through my mac, iphone, or ipad, it always lists Mail storage as 605.6 MB. I have unchecked the Mail syncing through iCloud on all my devices, and have erased ALL my email messages through iCloud.com (inbox, sent, junk, trash, folders, etc.). Basically there are no emails anywhere to be found. I don't even use Mac Mail on my computers. But I can't get rid of that 605.6 MB of space that Mail is using. Has anyone else run into this problem or have a solution for me. Thanks!

@Csound 1 - I've tried this already and in online there are 0 messages showing in all mailboxes

@Winston Churchill - Ok, so this is interesting. When I signed back into the iCloud and rechecked Mail in the iCloud settings, and then opened up Mail again, it began to download a lot of messages and then it began to delete them immediately. Right now there are 0 messages in Mail and iCloud...like there was before, but the fact that it began to download the message headers again makes me think there were stored somewhere. I also noticed that after doing this my Mail space is lower than before. This might have been what I needed to do to reset it. I'll keep checking and seeing if the Mail space continues to lower.

I had this same problem and I just found out the solution that worked for myslef. If you have a mac with the mail aplication open it up and go into the mail prefferences. Once there go to the accounts tab. Select your iCloud email adress. Then there are three tabs available. Select mailbox behaviors. Then down where it says trash uncheck the box that says "Store deleted messages on the server" and you can also select to permanently erase the deleted messages at different time incriments to prevent this problem from coming up in the future. My free space opened up right after I saved the preferences.

I hope this helps
