7.0.2 update broke iphone

I plugged my iPhone 4 into my computer to connect it to iTunes. It alerted me that I had an update to download (7.0.2). I did so, after restarting the device automatically, it failed to come back up. It is now stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen, the cable => iTunes icon.

Connecting to iTunes doesnt even recgonize the device. It doesnt popup in iTunes at all for me to be able to select a restore option. Windows hears the device connect to the OS.

7.0.2 seems broke!

This same problem happened to me, but with the 7.0. I spent over an hour with an Apple guy in chat trying to find out what happened. He told me that right before it crashed, it backed up everything. So all I had to do was press restore (as in delete everything), then updated it, then luckily it asked me if I wanted to restore my phone to the way it was before. That took about 20min and then BAM my phone was back to the way it was! and everything is on it! 🙂

Hi Guys/Gals,

I had the same Issue updated my Iphone 4s to Ios 7.0.2 and my iPhone got stuck in recovery mode

Here is the steps to fix it

1. Put your phone in DFU mode

Step One

Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.

Step Two

Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Step Three

After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

The iPhone screen will remain black

2. while you plugged your iPhone and opening the itunes go to windows/system32/drivers/etc and open "hosts" file as administrator with notepad

3. remove the last to lines with word apple in it

4. this is the most important action don't close the hosts file

5. while the hosts file still open go to itunes press shift + click restore choose the custom ipsw

6. Navigate C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

7. Select the correct ipsw file for Iphone 4s select iPhone4,1_7.0.2_11A501_Restore.ipsw

8. Restore Iphone from iTunes(Factory Defaults)

And then you can restore you backups from iTune or cloud etc.

Apple don't read the forums, as you will read in all the other posts.

To restore your phone, follow the instructions above. It will fix your issue. It's normally your computer had a problem donwlaoding from the server along the way.

Without a computer, Domsrasing, you're not going to be able to do this. Either find someone with a computer or go to an Apple store. They'll be able to do it for you.
