how to install iOS update after downloading using iTunes

I downloaded ios 7.0 update from itunes but i disconnected the device and clicked "download only" using iTunes. After download was finished how could i update to my device? My device show my os is up to date. But It had shown by itunes to update for my device when I sync with itunes. How could I find downloaded iOS 7.0 update file in my Mac?

The above does not apply altogether anymore. It worked while iOS 7 was the current iOS version (note the thread was opened and replied to in Sep 2013). We're in Nov 2016, the current iOS version being signed by Apple for all but the most ancient iGadgets is 10.1.1 and iTunes is 12.5.3.17. If you were to start your own thread and provide details as to what you have and what you want to do, we your fellow Apple customers and users might have a better idea of how to help you.

Actually, it worked!! The thing is I downloaded my iOS software from another source then used iTunes to install!!

I only ran into a problem of Software doesn't match device!! That means having the right software for the device will work perfectly!!

I used the Shift/Alt while clicking Update method though it was specified for Mac books only, I used for my windows pc!!
