No Service after Unlocking iPhone 4S (Searching... No Service)

Hello my fellow community and support members!

I had ran into a pickle as this (below) had happened.

Do note that the iPhone is no longer under warranty and it has not and still not tampered with. Nor water damaged.

My service provider is Telus and I have the iPhone 4S.

This is the email I had sent to them. The Telus support said that it is a software issue and nothing that Telus can do about it.

I also do thank all of you for taking the time to read this.

**** START ***

Hello,

I had contacted you for an unlock on September 15, 2013 for my iPhone 4S.

The night of September 15, 2013:

Telus SIM card inserted into the iPhone 4S, full bar signal with Telus as service provider.

Followed the email procedure:

1.) iTunes 10 - Backed up iPhone 4S

2.) Restore iPhone 4S with iOS 6

3.) Message "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked." (Every time I restore this message shows up after)

4.) Clicked "Continue"

- The top left of the iPhone now says:

- Already inserted Telus SIM card says "Searching..." then "No Service"

- Switched to the Bell SIM card says "Searching..." then "No Service"

- Switches to Rogers SIM card says "Searching..." then "No Service"

I had done restore/unlocking for and with each SIM card as well.

Under Settings > General > Reset

- Followed on line forums to reset Network settings

- Followed on line forums to All Settings

- Followed on line forums to Erase All Content and Settings

All SIM cards still say "Searching..." then "No Service"

September 16, 2013:

I headed to the Apple store. The specialist at the Genius Bar had confirmed that the iPhone 4S is indeed unlocked.

The Apple specialist continued to replace the SIM cards and had the same "Searching..." then "No Service"

The Apple specialist then said "In order to correct this, you can replace the phone for $199.94+tax."

I had commented "If there is no hardware problem before unlocking and the problem happened after the unlocking. I'm sure its a software problem and not hardware and I will not pay over $200 to fix a problem that is non-hardware or personal fault."

The specialist had then said "Since that is all we can offer you. There is nothing further at this point." (Basically telling me to leave.)

I then went to the Telus store and the technician had commented that the "Since the 4S has been working fine before unlocking. The unlocking could have triggered something in the phone to stop responding to the Network Services. It could have been the manufacture programming to do something to the hardware or a software programming problem."

September 17, 2013:

Received the email to restore with iOS 7 to resolve the "Searching... No Service" issue after Unlock.

September 18, 2013

- Backed up iPhone 4S

- Updated to iTunes 11

- Restore iOS 7 (Amazing new interface) WITH Telus SIM card installed

*Congratualtions, your iPhone has been unlocked."

- After restore/update, activate iPhone 4S with Apple ID

- Top left says "Searching... No Service"

I then did:

- Under Settings > Carriers (Network Selection) > Off > Check-Mark Telus (was provided Telus, Bell, Rogers Wireless)

- "Searching... No Service"

I had tried Reset Network and even All Content Reset. Still "Searching... No Service"

The iPhone was successfully unlocked on the 15th of September and verified at the Apple store on the 16th of September that the iPhone 4S is unlocked.

After much research on the internet. This had happened to other iPhones around the world after unlocking. So far I had not found a solution.

This phone is very well taken care of and protected with the Otter Box (Searching... No service after taking it out of the case as well). No drops and never near water.

Apple (genius bar) had no comments towards WHY would this issue would rise after unlocking and said that the only thing I can do is replace my iPhone. Not even a repair, but a replace?

I cannot afford $199.99+tax for a problem that occurred right after a manufacture unlock.

And yes I am 100% sure that the service with Telus was working right before the unlock on September 15, 2013.

After "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked." it has been "Searching... No Service" since.

Thank you.

Still no word from Apple about this issue and I never had a email come back to me. They still want to replace my iPhone 4S for $199.99+tax. Come on Apple it is over 1 year since a lot of us been waiting to hear back about a fix.

Your device has a hardware failure.

Your device is outside of the one-year hardware coverage.

Apple is offering to replace your out-of-warranty device for a reduced price.
