how to delete podcasts I've listened to?

All of a sudden all the podcasts of Fresh Air from the last year that I've listened to are showing up with the "cloud" sign next to them on my playlist. I don't care if I've ever listened to them, I want to get rid of them! Ack, highlighting and deleting isn't working. Any ideas? This long, long list will make me crazy!
