My ipod classic (late 2009) isnt being recognised within my itunes, i know sounds like something trivial right?

My ipod classic (late 2009) isnt being recognised within my itunes however resets itself into disk mode.

After it has reset itself into disk mode it still won't appear on the itunes so I can restore the ipod. What do i do to restore it?
