How to close apps on iPhone 4 with new ios7 software update installed

• Press the home button twice to get to the Home screen.
• You will see a thumbnail of the app above the icon. Swipe this miniature up.

What does "swipe this miniature up" mean??

Grab the mini picture of the window of the app that you want to close and drag it up, for example in the screenshot that Old Toad posted, move the open window of BuddyTVGuide up, if you want to close it.

The miniture image of the application that you want to close. In my example it's the BuddyTV window. Swipe it upward and it will close.

Okay, I figured it out-- you swipe the picture above the icon of the app-- not the icon itself. Thanks to those who clarified this!

I had the same problem. I was swiping down, to the sides but i didn't even think to swipe it up.😝 it's tricky hey!!!
