In the past, you open the event and scroll to the bottom of that popup window. There you can find a delete button.
There are some events I can't delete. For example, i import work appointments into my calendar and if I'm not the organizer I find that I can't delete them.

Same problem here. I'm syncing with icloud and a Mac Book Pro and an iPad. But on my iPhone 5s I can't delete the entry. No edit option exists.
I've never used the calendar app until I read this, so I created a test event and then spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to delete it, but I finally figured it out! Here's how to do it:
1) Tap the event to bring up the info panel about it.
2) Tap "Edit".
3) A long panel will appear, letting you set all sorts of info about the event, but there doesn't appear to be any way to delete it, but...
4) Pull up on that long panel, and way down at the bottom is a red "Delete Event" button. Tap it and confirm the deletion in the message box that appears, and the event it gone!

Please read the posts in the entirety before responding. I repeat the edit tab does not exist on these events that we are having problems with.
Hi,
I apologize for my carelessness. Are you able to determine at all which calendar the event belongs to (tap on the event and see what's shown to the right of "Calendar")? I'm wondering if the event might be associated with an external calendar (such as Google), in which case you might be able to delete the event from going directly to that external source.
Hope this helps,
Ken
Has anyone figured out how to delete the calendar event that was accepted from another source?
Same problem here. I couldn't figure out how to do it. I eventually resorted to logging into iCloud.com and deleting the event from there. The event is now off of my my iPhone. I don't like the new calendar app much, it is visually and functionally confusing!
I'm writing on behalf of my dad, who is still struggling with his new iPhone 5 and now iOS7. He imported an event from an email invitation; and now it is one of those undeletable events (no "Edit" option). He doesn't have iCloud AFAIK, so I wouldn't know how to go about deleting it.
I echo SMBrown's sentiments. I don't like the look of the new calendar. And as for functionality, this is my first encounter with it. It's not a happy experience. I'm still on iOS6 and I'm not updating until the dust has settled on iOS7.
I have a work round that might help
Create a new Callandar and move the event to that calandar. Then delete the calandar.
It worked for my event that had no edit button. Hope it works for you too.
Thank you very much, Steven Borley.
That worked very well.
That worked! Thanks Steve! 🙂
Kenneth,
Your response helped me (and I'm sure others!
The Delete Event button hides at the bottom where you need to scroll up when you get the long verticle panel.
Thanks!
My solution was to click the Calendars button at the bottom and, on the next screen, to delete the calendars that you don't want to appear on your iPhone Calendar any more. The ones I no longer wanted were on the Home and Work calendars from an associated work email address I'd used two years ago, with eternally recurring events that I couldn't 'edit' either. So I simply deleted those calendars from that list and hey presto, all those entries were gone.
Hope that helps.
I have been struggling for A YEAR on how to delete a recurring calendar event that I no longer needed. Kenneth's suggestion did help me immensily with finally figuring out how to get it to delete hopefully FOR GOOD this time! Thanks everyone!
SORRY: THIS IS A DIFFERENT TOPIC - THE FOLLOWING IS HOW TO DELETE A CALENDAR (SORRY)
This is how i resolved it (maybe it will be your problem):-
I noticed in ical that unwanted calendars were showing under EXCHANGE
so i went to setting (the main setting icon on the homescreen)
settings>mail,contacts&calenders
I clicked on Exchange and turned off the calendar switch
My problem solved! maybe it will be yours too
