charging iphone since ios7

Has anyone experienced problems charging their phone since the ios7 software upgrade?

Even the cable my iphone came with does not charge it - luckily I bought a spare cable off ebay - one that is not apple genuine and this is the only one that works! Well it charges it but doesn't work 100% as it gets to 100% charged but never says battery full - just wants to keep charging it. I have 3 genuine iphone 5 cables that won't charge my phone now and only this one cable will charge it 😟 Anyone have any suggestions??

Also when you select an image for wallpaper - it comes up enlarged - it says to 'move and scale' but you can only make the image bigger you can't decrease it so you can actually see it all on the screen - you only get a portion of the picture now - anyone else finding this?

Other than this I think ios7 is really good 😉

Huh? There never has been a "battery full" message and the phone always continues to trickle charge after 100% is reached. This has been true for every iPhone model and every iOS version.

Nothing is "enlarged" - just displayed in its natural size. This also has always been the case - nothing to do with iOS 7.

Have you ever used an iPhone before??

Yes I have used my iphone before, thank you for being patronising.

The phone gives you a plug symbol when the battery is full rather than the lightning symbol when it's charging, this no longer happens since ios7 to be more specific. I notice you didn't mention the fact that my 3 genuine cables no longer charge my phone, this can't be an incompetence issue now can it?

The wallpaper image on my phone comes up too large and you cannot scale it down only enlarge it further I was purely asking if anyone else had the same issue - clearly you do not, so if you have nothing better to offer than trying to insult my intelligence I'd appreciate it if you didn't comment further.

Thank you.

Don't know. Suddenly, during the 37 minutes between your posts, "the cable my iphone came with " has become "3 genune cables." Your story evolves...

Regardless, this is a hardware issues if any cable does works. Blow out the lightning connector port with canned compressed gas (NEVER by mouth). Clean the lighning port and connectors with electronic contact cleaner. It's got nothing to do with the update.

Everyone has always had the same issue using photos taken on the phone for wallpaper. Nothing remotely new at all.

I realise I have no control over the posts, however I did not expect someone to be patronising when I was just asking for advice / help. You do not have the right to try and belittle anyone, regardless if I can control content or not. Perhaps you should consider the way you speak to people in the future, this would be my advice to you.

I have now learnt why I've never bothered with these forums before.

Thanks for your advice, but somehow I've done quite well for myself without it.

My advice to you is to not ascribe new "problems" to an update that actually have been normal iPhone functions ever since its inception over 6 years ago. All that does is to document your ignorance of iPhone operation.

Perhaps you have found the advice from the many others posting in this thread to be more helpful.

I too have noticed that the "plug" no longer appears once the battery has fully charged. Battery apps would refer to the charging time between the battery reaching 100% and the "plug"as trickle charge, or top-up. I'm not sure if ios 7 makes the battery function differently at all, it would seem that the battery is constantly topping up.

As for the wallpaper, I think this has to do with parallax (what makes your desktop pictures move as you move your phone around). I think that it needs to keep the pics bigger to allow for that movement. Try to turn that off and see if it fixes it.

Thank your Brett, that's really helpful. I've had a look all through the settings on my phone and cannot find where I can disable parallax, if you have any ideas on this that would be fantastic.

As for the charging issue, I've now purchased another non-genuine charger cable and that charges my phone! Weird!

Thanks again :)

Hi,

I also have the same problem with charging the iPhone after upgrading to iOS 7. I used to plug in my iPhone with the cable to a laptop or directly to the electricity supply and the phone started charging immediately. After the upgrade the phone is randomnly charged very slowly, most of the time not charging at all. (I have tried many times and after letting the phone plugged in the whole night I just stay with 38% charged or so.)

To be sure, I have this problem with the two original Apple cables I have (both of them were working before the upgrade). I do thus believe that the problem might somehow be related to the new OS.

Any solution to that? Thanks!

Well the only solution I found is to use my non genuine charger cable to charge the phone, I bought another off eBay to see if it would work, another non genuine that is and this time not only does it work but I do not get the error message saying it's not verified so may not work properly with the handset! My battery I would say runs down slightly quicker than before but that seems to be the most common issue since the upgrade, a few of my friends have experienced the same problem to different extremes. Try buying a cheap one off eBay and see if it works :) I don't think there's anything to be done about battery life, I'm hoping they issue another fixed version that doesn't drain the battery quite so much!

Thank you all for sharing though, it's nice to know there are some decent people in the world who are not completely arrogant and up their own *** :)
