ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

Just adding my issues here in hopes it gets attention from the powers that be

My Experience is as follows

Games - take your focus off the game and come back later and you have been refreshed out of a life and progress on current level. (I'll admit to playing Candy Crush when I have 5 idle minutes here and there )

Forms - Leave to get info on another page or app and come back to find your form emptied of previous entries.

Downloading Apps . take the focus off the app and it does not download in background as it did previously. Refocus to apps and page is refreshed to home page.

Facebook - since this is always on in background you may take a call, do work, etc and come back and now have refreshed what you left off with.

It is quite irritating and can not be called advantageous to the end user experience in any way. Maybe this frees up memory and makes the phone faster but at what cost?

Yes I just did, and I provided the link to this discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5380124?answerId=24777868022#24777868022&ac_cid=tw123456#24777868).

Please everyone let them know how attrocious this problem is and that they have a lot of unhappy customers who are not going to buy new iDevices unless this is addressed ASAP.

Someone recently posted that this problem was happening on their 5s which means there must be a cause and a fix for this issue, because I went and fiddled with a 5s at my local Apple store a few days ago, and could not get anything to refresh (a good thing).

DFU reset did not work for me. I have an iPad 2. I went thought the few hours it took to do a DFU reset yesterday. At first I thought that it worked. I would go back to Safari and it didn't reload the page, the same for Facebook, it would refresh but not reload and keep me where I was with the option of clicking on the new stories button to go to the top.

That quickly changed though as soon as I put my iPad to sleep and walked away for an hour or so. Then all the reload problems came back. I had at most 6 apps open and I have never jail broken the iPad.

Now the day after it is completely back to the way it was, reloading when switching all the time.

I opened a support call with Apple yesterday, who advised me to do the DFU reset. I went through the rigmarole of transferring purchases, backing up and updating iTunes in preparation, then discovered that 7.1 beta 5 was out. So I've installed that instead.

Sorry if I did not make it clear that a developer account is needed in order to install beta versions.

Everything's working so far (14 hours in), but it did the same with beta 4, so I'll hold off saying that anything's improved yet.

I do think that Safari's own issue of reloading pages was fixed in beta 4, but the general app refresh issue remained, so Safari still reloaded pages when the app had been terminated by iOS.

this issue has absolutely existed much longer than iOS7. i guess iOS7 just exacerbated it with its high memory usage.

but i have very clear memories of using Google Maps (the new, post-Apple Maps version) on iOS6 resetting when i would go check some other apps and then go back to my map.

i even remember clearly that safari would reload pages on my super old iPhone 3GS (i don't even remember which iOS it was). for example, i would load 4 or 5 articles that i wanted to read in different tabs in safari at the airport before i got on the plane so i could read them during a flight. then i put the phone into airplane mode for the flight, and 20 minutes later open safari and i soon as i went to the tab i wanted to read, it would try to reload the page automatically, but because there was no internet connection it would not be successful and then i couldn't read anything. it was so annoying because i just wanted to read the page that i had already loaded.

also, responding to someone else's jailbreaking theory, i never jailbroke any of my iOS devices yet this has happened a lot.

anyway, i suspect that apple is well aware of this problem (they are not idiots) but aren't going to publically release information about a problem they don't have a fix for yet because it's bad press. and unlike the antennagate issue, there's no pressure from the independent press, so apple has no need to craft a public response. i'm still really curious why none of the tech publications or mainstream publications have picked up on this, considering how they seemingly publish every little noteworthy apple news item, good or bad.

Hi everyone, I just spent 20 minutes reading through this thread. Not sure if I'm happy that I'm not the only one or depressed at the lack of solutions. Anyway, I wanted to add my 2 cents worth to the story and see if what is happening to me is related.

Like the rest of you, I'm experiencing this problem when I switch between apps. Doesn't happen every time, but enough that is is very frustrating. Lately, it's been happening to:

  • Facebook - app resets when I switch out and back in, if I'm in the middle of typing a message, I lose what I was writing
  • Waze (It's the navigation app) - I will lose the route/destination that I am currently following. This is very frustrating when I am in the middle of driving!
  • Mail - this one is weird...it will revert back to that screen you see when you first add an account and you choose iCloud, Exchange, etc. I have to manually shut down the app entirely and open it back up to see my mail accounts

It happens with other apps too, but it was those 3 that happened to me in the last 12 hours. Has anyone experience that problem in Mail where the accounts don't show up? Do you think it's related to this problem?

Yes i am having the same problem with MAIL but only on my iPad Mini 32Gigs/3G sometimes when i switch from an app to MAIL i have the page that we all get when we setup a mail from the first time.. the page with AOL, GOOGLE, HOTMAIL etc.. etc... then the only solution is to force quit the MAIL APP and load it again and all is ok!... but very boring bug!... but this happen to me only on the iPAD mini not on my iphone 4s 64gigs!

iOS7 really suxxxxx!... can believe there is so many bugs... this kind of thing never happend with Steve Jobs!... now they are only looking about number, money and they dont really care about the userss.... i think we are back on those Sculley Years!.... a SHAME!

Yes .. this iOS is full of bug!!! i think we are around 12 bugs that are very ennoying bugs not small ones... these bugs make the iDevice unusable profesionnaly!..

Even the MacOSX 10.9.x is full of bugs.. they have approximetly the same bug with MAIL in OSX 10.9.1

I have never saw any version of OSX or iOS with so many bugs!... its a complete SHAME!... i remember MERCEDES having problem with their a model of their CLASS A model and they tooks 3 millions of cars worldwide and gave a fixed car to each of their customers, they directly recognize their mistake and fixed it!.. typically german attitude and i love it!.

Here we are living the worst attitude i have ever lived!.. BIG SILENCE no fix for now 5 months and the same with OSX!...

Tim Cook is unable to lead the development and design team has Steve did it.

Even the design that is horrible should be a lot lighter than iOS6 due to the lack of graphics .. this iOS is almost vectors.. this should be very light and should refresh very fast and they are slower than ever.. on iphone 4 this iOS is unusable.. imagine... iOS6 works fluently on iPhone 3gs

Anyway.. i enjoy my new SONY XPERIA Z1 the top of all the phones... with QuadCore processor.. and NFC Bluetooth.. you should look at it!...
