ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

Just adding my issues here in hopes it gets attention from the powers that be

My Experience is as follows

Games - take your focus off the game and come back later and you have been refreshed out of a life and progress on current level. (I'll admit to playing Candy Crush when I have 5 idle minutes here and there )

Forms - Leave to get info on another page or app and come back to find your form emptied of previous entries.

Downloading Apps . take the focus off the app and it does not download in background as it did previously. Refocus to apps and page is refreshed to home page.

Facebook - since this is always on in background you may take a call, do work, etc and come back and now have refreshed what you left off with.

It is quite irritating and can not be called advantageous to the end user experience in any way. Maybe this frees up memory and makes the phone faster but at what cost?

There will always be those who join the thread late and don't bother to read what's gone before. Whether they are trolling or just misguided, our best bet is just to ignore these posts and concentrate on the ones that have something useful to contribute. By getting into pointless exchanges we just get more off topic. Er, like this post.

since you said you hadn't experienced the issue being discussed.

So all "heavy users" have this issue? and if they don't, they are only light users?

tomsruck posted, "4S completely unusable"

His 4S may be and I posted because I have a 4S and I don't experience these issues.

The iOS 7.0.6 update FIXED the multitasking problem for me. I have a Verizon iPhone 4S. Perhaps it wasn't the update content itself, but regardless of why/how it happened, it is now working for the first time since I originally updated to iOS 7. The update also seems to have increased the font size for Messages. So this update obviously has more than just an SSL security fix.

A software update results in a device reset, and in the experience of many on this forum, it is the reset that gives a perceived improvement. However, that improvement is invariably short-lived and the memory-management bug gradually reasserts itself leading to the familiar app refresh problem. I will be surprised if your improvement continues. We will almost certainly be waiting for 7.1 for this.

I just updated to 7.0.6 last night through the settings app on the phone.

No it did not fix the problem

But I'm seeing a huge improvement.

I reset all settings a few weeks ago and it didn't seem to help much. I noticed that speak selection seems to have a negative impact on performance so I left it off after the reset.

I would personally recommend upgrading to 7.0.6 based on my personal experience.

After some extensive testing I was able to get Safari to completely crash to the point where I had to restart my phone so that it would load this page correctly. My initial post was saying how Safari didn't lose my form data anymore but I was wrong. I opened mail and then switched to photos and then switched back and forth a few times opened countless apps and switched back to Safari and the page tried to refresh and simply wouldn't load. It may have been my Internet connection but I was using 3G. Under normal circumstances I've had great success. I received a phone call while typing this post and had to switch to mail to retrieve some information for the person that was calling, switched back to Safari and my post was still here. Good luck

The App Refresh Bug is still there but it seems that on my iPad2 the tab refresh issue within safari is fixed. Even with nine or ten open tabs safari keeps the pages open without reloading them.

I also noticed that the "App Store" App now restores its former state after refreshing. Perhaps they implemented the needed API function. (on the other side, this "restore functionality" within Apple Maps doesn't work properly: after a few successful switches with a refresh and a reload to the saved location it starts again at my current location)

So iOS7 is still ununsable with "older" devices like my iPad2. I'm so glad that my iPhone 4S still runs iOS6!

Just joining the discussion with my ipad 2... only to report that I have had the same issue since io 7 first came out... Recent update did not change anything. It is REALLY annoying... for me it even gets to the point were a lot of apps crashes to load... only way for me to get out of that is to reboot the ipad.. then it has enough memory to load app... but still rfreshes when switching between apps.

I especially *love* how it gives me a freezed image of where I last left off in the app I just switched to, for about 3-4 second and then refresh app back to orignal start screen. Like reading a magazine... I see the last page I was on... but then reloads back in to library view for that magazine and I have to find the correct issue and page myself. ***?!For me it also happens when I go from sleep ipad, punch in code and same thing. PRetty much with ALL app. Amazone Kindle is the only exception I have notieced. Well... that is, it does a refresh.. but kindle makes sure to remember where you left off anyway so gets you right back where you were.

Also whilst playing a game... it might start crashing.. and looking at crash reports.. .always Low memory!.

Apple!!! Seriously... I have gone from loving it to hating the product!

And to add insult to injury the screen shot of the apps running in the background are not even always where I last left it on my iPhone 4S (they are a shot of how I last last left it or something to that effect).

Here we are in 2014 and car stereo manufacturers are still not making new units with lightning connections. A lot of manufacturers are saying to **** with Apple and their greedy BS proprietary nonsense.

I will be keeping my iPhone 4S until it dies... who knows maybe I'll find another one on eBay with iOS 6 still on it.

Look at the recent reviews for the lightning-to-USB cable on the Apple Store website... almost every single review is one star.

I would almost go as far as to say that Apple programmed this bug purposefully to only happen on older devices so we would blindly upgrade to their latest.

I would actually love to upgrade to the iPhone 5S but I have so many **** accessories with the 30 pin connector it would make my life a living ****; two car stereos that play iPhone video via 30 pin connection (video will not work with an iPhone 5 or 5S even with the 30 pin-to-lightning adapter), Lowrance SonicHub (dock for my phone in my bass boat that lets me select/play music through my fishfinder/GPS, iFusion Office/Desk Phone Dock, Bose Sounddock Portable.
