ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

Just adding my issues here in hopes it gets attention from the powers that be

My Experience is as follows

Games - take your focus off the game and come back later and you have been refreshed out of a life and progress on current level. (I'll admit to playing Candy Crush when I have 5 idle minutes here and there )

Forms - Leave to get info on another page or app and come back to find your form emptied of previous entries.

Downloading Apps . take the focus off the app and it does not download in background as it did previously. Refocus to apps and page is refreshed to home page.

Facebook - since this is always on in background you may take a call, do work, etc and come back and now have refreshed what you left off with.

It is quite irritating and can not be called advantageous to the end user experience in any way. Maybe this frees up memory and makes the phone faster but at what cost?

After playing around with 7.1 for a while, I do not believe the app refresh problem has been addressed. Readers of my posts may recall that my personal gripe was when swapping between Editorial and iBooks for consulting a reference manual. Swapping to iBooks results in the book closing, a pause, then a reopen. Far from slick and far from practical.

This is really disappointing but it will be interesting to hear whether others' pet peeves have been sorted by this update. I have my doubts.

This is depressing. Apple, less than a year ago I was an evangelist for your products. How did you go so badly wrong?

I could not agree more!

I have noticed the keyboard font is now bold and not so sleek anymore. A bit more pixelated. On the positive side my ipad 2 seems faster to load apps than before and generally a bit faster overall.

But refresh problem is Still there. For me it is always there... Even after reboot. Not noticed out of memory issue yet... But too early to tell.

Dissapointed... And not buying another apple product until this is fixed... Maybe not even then. Because i am THAT disapointed in Apple.

My iPad 2 32GB is much improved on 7.1 - albeit, I've only been using it about an hour or so.

I no longer get Safari TAB refreshes when reducing the app or when switching back and forth between other apps. The only time I get it is if I actually CLOSE it and then reopen it - which is normal.

Pages and Notes are better, but still show a brief lag when I first open them or app switch back and forth.

At this point, 7.1 seems to have brought my old iPad back from the near-dead.

I'm the editor of a tech magazine, currently trialling a Windows Phone for an article about whether diehard Apple fans can be switched.

Pre-iOS7, I would've said there was no chance. Now I'm desperate another mobile OS can win me over, or at least match the experience I was used to pre-iOS7.

Who would've thought a single OS problem could be so aggravating to turn a power Apple user into a wannabe defector.

Steven, it remains bewildering how Apple could let iOS degrade in this way. You are ideally placed to write a piece describing this problem in detail (if you look back in the posts you will find an article I wrote that may fill in some of our history in trying to solve this issue).

I think the iPhone users have more choice when considering switching - it's the iPad users who have more of a problem.

If, as it appears, iOS 7.1 has not solved all our app switching problems (though some have reported improvements), tech writers such as you are our best hope in turning more attention onto Apple's apparent inability to produce quality software anymore.
