ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

Just adding my issues here in hopes it gets attention from the powers that be

My Experience is as follows

Games - take your focus off the game and come back later and you have been refreshed out of a life and progress on current level. (I'll admit to playing Candy Crush when I have 5 idle minutes here and there )

Forms - Leave to get info on another page or app and come back to find your form emptied of previous entries.

Downloading Apps . take the focus off the app and it does not download in background as it did previously. Refocus to apps and page is refreshed to home page.

Facebook - since this is always on in background you may take a call, do work, etc and come back and now have refreshed what you left off with.

It is quite irritating and can not be called advantageous to the end user experience in any way. Maybe this frees up memory and makes the phone faster but at what cost?

Here it is 2 years later and I'm still using my ancient iPad 2 running iOS 7 and I've just gotten used (not happily) to this app reset problem. I've been thinking of upgrading the operating system to iOS 9. I know it could really slow things down but part of me wants to throw caution to the winds to see if it has any effect on our app reset problem. Has anyone else upgraded to iOS 9 on their iPad 2 or 3?

btw, my iPhone 5s running iOS 7 doesn't have the problem.

The key issue we were all dealing with when we first started this thread two years ago with the release of iOS 7 was that the problem did not exist in 6.0. It started with the release of iOS 7 in September 2013. You mention that iOS is a 64-bit operating system; I'm curious if that was the case for iOS 6 as well. (I'm pretty sure my iPad 2 uses a 32-bit processor.)

I agree with both of you. And maybe the constraints are similar on 32 bit systems with less RAM. On my device (iPhone 6 Plus) I see this occuring randomly and I did a test today with a 150MB game: it was reset only after I also launched Safari (I keep about 20 tabs open). It is very annoying not to know if you'll find your app how you left it. I wish I had the option not to launch another app unless I choose which suspended apps are safe to reset.

I have iphone 6 with plenty of memory, and using the latest iOS. Playing scrabble with my boyfriend a lot. Having the same issue as you guys describe here. Going back and forth between two apps it refreshes almost all the time.

Apple said that we can multi task when double tap the home button and go between two apps. Well it does not work. I tried different settings, like turning on and off the background refresh, but did nothing. Sometimes it works tho' but cannot figure it out why.

Maybe it needs to have a certain settings in order to work. Apple please check into this.

Maybe you should report that to the app developer and see what they say, or even request a refund from Apple on the app purchase since it doesn't seem to be stable. I have the same problem with Tapatalk (a forum reader) which often returns me to the forum's home page rather than the post I was reading if I try to switch away for a few moments and then come back to it. I keep reporting it to the Tapatalk developers in their discussion forum.

So I found this very interesting. I moved away from Apple and went to a Windows phone in 2014. When I had my iPhone 4S running IOS 7 it kept refreshing my apps with each multitask app switch. It is extremely annoying as you need to often start back where you started after the refresh. Any way, fast forward to 2016, I am now back in the world of apple running IOS 9 on an iPhone 5 and wait for it, the app refreshing is still happening! Given the hundreds of replies on this thread and the fact that it has now been going for three years I cannot believe this is still an issue. Does anyone know of any actual fixes to the problem?

This annoyingly happens in just switching tabs when using only Safari. Just in checking information between tabs is impossible to quickly Jump between tabs. Everytime I select a new tab it refreshes. Also if you're shopping and checking info after putting something in the shopping cart the refreshing of the tab asks you once again to put the item in the cart. Pain in the.....
