Q: ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

Thanks Chris CA but unlike your fanboy status of Level 9 and 71790 points

    I don't understand.

What is "fanboy status"? Where are you seeing this?

i  don't have 'Report Post' status.

    Okay.

I think you need to be level 2 to get the Report post. This helps keep the hit & run posters and trolls wasting the moderators time.

You can report here -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/using_apple_support_communities?view=dis cussions

Or is there something you'd like me me to report for you?

What Chris CA has told us though is he is clearly a very light user of his iPhone so that's another bit of information we can take.

Actually, that's not what Chris CA told you at all.

Thanks again Chris - but I'm still unclear what you want me to report you for? FYI it says Fanboy under you points score.

I won't be responding to you anymore.

Apologies to the rest of the discussion participants - my fault for going off topic this time.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, I see.

You indicated YOU were worried about something and you cannot report it.

You get worried and then decide to take this thread off track..

    nice..

Chris CA - you obviously don't have anything to contribute to this thread, so why exactly are you sticking your oar in?

Tomsruk will have deduced you were a light user since you said you hadn't experienced the issue being discussed.

There will always be those who join the thread late and don't bother to read what's gone before. Whether they are trolling or just misguided, our best bet is just to ignore these posts and concentrate on the ones that have something useful to contribute. By getting into pointless exchanges we just get more off topic. Er, like this post.

    incorrectly

since you said you hadn't experienced the issue being discussed.

So all "heavy users" have this issue? and if they don't, they are only light users?

    tomsruck posted, "4S completely unusable"

His 4S may be and I posted because I have a 4S and I don't experience these issues.

paulfromstone & helveticum - apologies, thank you and agreed all at once.

In other, back to topic news, I may be gaining some ground on getting an article or two published on this. Will keep board posted.

The iOS 7.0.6 update FIXED the multitasking problem for me. I have a Verizon iPhone 4S.  Perhaps it wasn't the update content itself, but regardless of why/how it happened, it is now working for the first time since I originally updated to iOS 7. The update also seems to have increased the font size for Messages. So this update obviously has more than just an SSL security fix.

Can you please describe your update procedure?

Have you installed a delta or a full update?

If you did a delta update, have you installed it via OTA or via iTunes?

And how long did you try to reproduce the refresh bug

A software update results in a device reset, and in the experience of many on this forum, it is the reset that gives a perceived improvement. However, that improvement is invariably short-lived and the memory-management bug gradually reasserts itself leading to the familiar app refresh problem. I will be surprised if your improvement continues. We will almost certainly be waiting for 7.1 for this.

I just updated to 7.0.6 last night through the settings app on the phone.

No it did not fix the problem

But I'm seeing a huge improvement.

I reset all settings a few weeks ago and it didn't seem to help much. I noticed that speak selection seems to have a negative impact on performance so I left it off after the reset.

I would personally recommend upgrading to 7.0.6 based on my personal experience.

After some extensive testing I was able to get Safari to completely crash to the point where I had to restart my phone so that it would load this page correctly. My initial post was saying how Safari didn't lose my form data anymore but I was wrong. I opened mail and then switched to photos and then switched back and forth a few times opened countless apps and switched back to Safari and the page tried to refresh and simply wouldn't load. It may have been my Internet connection but I was using 3G. Under normal circumstances I've had great success. I received a phone call while typing this post and had to switch to mail to retrieve some information for the person that was calling, switched back to Safari and my post was still here.  Good luck

The App Refresh Bug is still there but it seems that on my iPad2 the tab refresh issue within safari is fixed. Even with nine or ten open tabs safari keeps the pages open without reloading them.

I also noticed that the "App Store" App now restores its former state after refreshing. Perhaps they implemented the needed API function. (on the other side, this "restore functionality" within Apple Maps doesn't work properly: after a few successful switches with a refresh and a reload to the saved location it starts again at my current location)

So iOS7 is still ununsable with "older" devices like my iPad2. I'm so glad that my iPhone 4S still runs iOS6!

Nope, Safari Refresh Bug is still there too...

Looks like we have to wait for 7.1 - but i don't think that it'll solve our problems!
