Apr 9, 2014 7:26 PM in response to sjmawerby Mihhwang1,There are too many replies, but I am just wondering what is apple's response to this idiotic issue?

Apr 9, 2014 8:22 PM in response to PaulG114by lforbes,Yes Safari is the worst. I never rely on it now.
Try the Accessibility settings - reduce motion = on. Stops the zooming in and out and seems to help quite a bit. Also the auto brightness off seems to help too.
Nothing is a fix but keeping only a few apps open. Also switching doing the 4 finger swipe helps. The home button preview seems to make it worse.

Why would Apple comment on "this idiotic issue"?
and in these user-to-user forums?

Apr 9, 2014 9:01 PM in response to Chris CAby AceNeerav,This might be a user-user forum but apple monitors this communities and is aware of the issue. I know this cause any of my posts invokving feedback and critisim have been removed in the past.
Fortunately replies are not removed. Its was a long , hyper cynical, reply to one of the threads (iphone 4 home button issue) that forced apple to provide me a brand new upgrade to my iphone 4's home button not working after 3 replacements for the same issue!!!

Apr 9, 2014 9:02 PM in response to AceNeeravby AceNeerav,It is irritating how apple ends up breaking stuff on their systems in updates and upgrades because of their tendency to fiddle with things that are alread working.

Apr 9, 2014 10:43 PM in response to PaulG114by augratin,I've read elsewhere that it can even happen to chrome running on iOS devices too.
I use chrome exclusively, and the problem is persistant. I've never had it NOT happen to me.
It was extremely aggravating last week when I needed to do a side-by-side comparison of two images on two different websites. Even fast-switching between two tabs - only seconds apart - caused the tab to *hang* . . . 3 second pause . . . *white screen* . . . 3 second pause . . . *tab reload*. And the images were half-way down the page, so you had to scroll to get to them. That meant having to scroll back to the image each time and get it properly sized and centered on the screen.
That made it all but impossible to do a quick image comparison. And Apple still has the temerity to post this in their support knowledge base:
iOS: Understanding multitasking
iOS 7 allows you to switch instantly between apps and to resume an app. When you return to an app, you can pick up right where you left off.
I'm sorry, but no you can't.

They are monitoring the forum to make sure people follow the ToS (whicoh you violated).
If they didn't, it would be chaos.
Dogs & cats sleeping together and worse.
Just like ThunderDome.

Fortunately, generally they are removed, when they are a direct reply to diatribes such as the one you had deleted.

Apr 10, 2014 12:32 AM in response to Chris CAby EndOfInfinity,Hi Chris CA,
I'm sorry to say that, but the second most annoying thing here (after the refresh issue) is you!
So please stop your derogative comments. They are absolutely useless.
Regards
EOI

Apr 10, 2014 1:06 AM in response to EndOfInfinityby chronicon helveticum,Well said, EOI. As I have suggested before, let's not rise to Chris CA's inane posts - hard though that can sometimes be.
Frustratingly, my own initials are CA and my first name is Chris. We all have our personal challenges in life ...

Apr 10, 2014 4:07 AM in response to sjmawerby jaypm55,Here I was thinking there must be a setting I'd changed without realising! I'm travelling at the moment and have been extremely frustrated that the mapping app on my mini iPad I'm using looses where we are if I switch to another app, eg., email. When I come back to my map the tracking has stopped. Seriously hoping Apple will fix this but so far it appears they've not. :-(

Apr 10, 2014 4:32 AM in response to jaypm55by paulfromstone,Hi jaypm55,
You've not got Background App Refresh turned off have you? You may have done this, what with so many people suggesting it as a way to fix the app restart issue (which it doesn't).
Background App Refresh needs to be switched on to allow apps to use location services when they are running in the background. You might also need to enable Background App Refresh for the maps app too, depending on whether it appears in the list.
For me, with Background App Refresh off, Google Maps always restarts, but it seems to keep alive if it's turned on.

Why wouldn't they? The discussions with little Apple icons next to them have been commented upon by someone from Apple haven't they?

Apr 10, 2014 5:07 AM in response to paulfromstoneby paulfromstone,Regarding Google Maps and Background App Refresh, I should have said that it only keeps alive if navigation is actually started. If I plan a route but do not start navigation, the app often restarts, losing the destination and route. Annoying! I've submitted a bug report to Google - it can and should store these details when the app is suspended, and revert to them upon a restart.
