Jun 1, 2014 8:49 PM in response to lforbesby rick7,SO GREAT to see this article with our thread mentioned. But I want to emphasize that this article is misleading: our issue is not about a problem with Safari resetting. It's with all apps resetting.
EDITED: ah, sorry! I see the article points to a totally different thread, not ours.

Jun 1, 2014 9:10 PM in response to rick7by lforbes,Yes it is an iOS 7 memory leak, not specific to Safari. Although Safari with JavaScript enabled makes it worse for that app.

Jun 2, 2014 9:28 AM in response to lforbesby ronfromtoronto,IOS Eight with true multi tasking will it work with only 1gb of ram or are our devices obsolete the second they leave Foxconn?
I've been using Apple, Microsoft, Google and other products the last 10 years and I will use what works best, I just hope Ive doesn't find a way to screw up OSX with 10.10. Is Apple the same post Jobs era? Definitely not we can argue about iOS 7 left right and centre and have been. I tolerate it now whereas with Apple products past you would just love it and it worked without issue. Hopefully they can turn things around without having to invest on new hardware.

Jun 2, 2014 12:53 PM in response to ronfromtorontoby jamessmke,so, to those of you who followed WWDC: any indications that our problem will be solved with iOS 8?

Jun 2, 2014 1:16 PM in response to EndOfInfinityby ERSinclair,@EndOfInfinity - actually, I do have the problem in email. If I start composing a message and then switch apps, I will loose the message. It will not be saved as a draft, it will be missing all together.

Jun 2, 2014 1:47 PM in response to jamessmkeby Lacer,Nothing they presented there gives an indication they're re-plumbing anything with multi-tasking. The only thing even in the area was the frequent contact info at the top of the multi-tasking view, which is a strange place to put it, BTW.

Jun 2, 2014 5:03 PM in response to ERSinclairby rick7,ERSinclair -- yep, I have the same problem with email. Funny: even after six months, I never associated it with our app-refresh problem, but of course it is.

Jun 3, 2014 12:06 AM in response to rick7by TokyoTony,I completely restored my iPad to factory settings and then reinstalled every app (and was sure to only install the ones I needed). It helped for about a week. Now, I am back to the refresh issue almost every time I switch apps.

Jun 3, 2014 2:01 AM in response to Lacerby EndOfInfinity,At least iOS8 will run on iPhone 4s and iPad 2 so there's little hope the multitasking will be fixed...

Jun 3, 2014 7:25 AM in response to EndOfInfinityby lforbes,iOS 8 will NOT support iPad 2 or iPhone 4. Not sure about 4s.
2 year old $1000 devices are considered throw away now.

Jun 3, 2014 7:29 AM in response to lforbesby lforbes,Oops I was wrong. The reports last week were they were not going to support the iPad 2. Yesterday they announced they will. I bought mine in 2011 just before iPad 3 came out. Glad they are still supporting it.

Jun 3, 2014 7:46 AM in response to lforbesby rvantwisk,I would suggest find a other ship to buy your devices. I cannot recal that a ipad ever was $1000, assuming you talk about the USD.

Jun 3, 2014 8:04 AM in response to lforbesby chronicon helveticum,Iforbes, it's debatable whether iOS 7 supports the iPad 2 :-)
Having changed from a keen Apple advocate to a jaded, frustrated and cynical user in 6 months (my posts go back to the first page), I now wonder whether iOS 8 will solve the problem on older machines. I am assuming that the bug will be addressed for the iPad Air but I no longer have any faith in Apple.
The received wisdom is that Apple maintained its high quality by the tight integration of hardware and software, whereas Microsoft had to make an operating system that would run on a very wide range of hardware configurations thus making it more bug-ridden.
These days, my impression is that Windows is highly stable (I can only speak for Windows 7) and PCs are comparatiively inexpensive and relatively modular. A year ago, I would never have considered not replacing my iMac with a new one, but now Apple is creating a reverse halo effect.
With such tight hardware/software integration, it is a mystery how Apple made such a hash of iOS. My new Android phone is a joy despite being 1/4 the price of an iPhone. Apple kit can be very good, but is that much better? I do acknowledge that Android is not perfect but Apple sets itself on a pedestal and must expect to judged accordingly.
The other threads referred to a few posts back expose a catalog of problems with iPad Air devices, probably resulting from software problems. We have 50 pages of posts here. There are threads of iOS problems in multiple forums. It goes on and on.
Admittedly we still do not fully understand the full extent of the Refresh problem but Apple's handling of it has been, and remains, appalling.

Or the 4S, for that matter. I was frankly shocked to see it on the supported devices list. I can't really figure out how they could make it worse, so maybe that only leaves "just as bad as 7" or "slightly better"? If they're layering everything on top of the 7 architecture, which seems to be the problem, I can't imagine we'll have any luck.
I was not wowed at all by the WWDC presentation for iOS 8 (copy everything your app developers have worked hard to do? Groundbreaking...) so the only hope is that the iPhone 6 will be some kind of revolutionary product. If it isn't, I'm definitely jumping on the Android train.
