Sep 21, 2014 9:07 PM in response to sjmawerby DebinLee,I Was in beta and it was seemingly fixed because I didn't have the habit killing background apps anymore as I did in iOS 7.x. Then I updated to iOS 8. All annoying things are coming back and it's definitely worse than ever because in iOS 7.x the bug would disappear for a week after a DFU. But now it won't disappear for a day at all.

Sep 22, 2014 12:03 AM in response to sjmawerby Cerebrlasassn, love how my comment about iOS 8 NOT fixing the problem was deleted... It said that I posted a "pol" or "petitshun"... And yes I spelled those wrong on purpose... Figured they'd delete me again if I actually typed them. I love how they said that when I did neither of those 2 things. Really guys? Anyway I have a new iPhone on the way today and I'm now dreading it... Sigh... Acknowledgement of this problem would be fantastic... This thread is like a year old.. Come on...

Sep 22, 2014 2:58 AM in response to Cerebrlasassnby chronicon helveticum,I haven't visited this forum for a while. In my nativity I assumed that the app refresh problem would magically improve in iOS 8. It seems that not only has this problem not been fixed but many users are now reporting other performance issues. I for one will not be upgrading my iPad 2 from iOS 7.1.2.
It appears that we have to accept that Apple products now have a shorter practical lifespan than was once the case. My hopeless experiences with Apple support both online and at Apple stores together with Apple's complete lack of concern or acknowledgement of the issues repeatedly raised on this forum are deeply disappointing. Not to mention Apple's heavy-handed censoring of posts including their autocratic insistence that I change my username, 'helveticum', as it was "inappropriate or offensive".
I so hoped that iOS 8 would be a turning point and that we would see a return to innovative excellence. Perhaps we have to accept that Apple now produces mass-market devices that appeal to the more casual user. I am in the process of weaning myself off Apple kit and finding alternatives.

Sep 29, 2014 9:23 AM in response to sjmawerby jimmy5rings,I've certainly suffered this annoying problem since iOS 7, and I'm still suffering this issue in iOS 8. In fact I think its even worse in iOS 8, although that might be just that iOS 8 is more resource hungry and I'm still on a 4s. Be interesting to hear if any 6 and 6 Plus users are having this issue.
I take it Android phones don't suffer this issue, I might actually consider moving to one, after more than a year of this frustration I think i'm done.

Sep 29, 2014 9:27 AM in response to jimmy5ringsby dfeivelson,I remember this problem happened when they released iOS 6 or iOS 7 and then it was corrected in a later iOS update.
I updated to iOS 8 on my 4S and then purchased a new iPhone 6, and the events were out of order on both devices.

Sep 29, 2014 11:59 PM in response to sjmawerby Cerebrlasassn,Had my iPhone 6 now for a week a and havent noticed the issue! At least not so far... However I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.0.2, and the issue persists... Like Jimmy5rings I also had a 4s and had this problem, and to add to it, it was a 32g with 32g of stuff on it so that surely helped nothing haha... Anyway, my experience so far with the iPhone 6 (4.7) has been fantastic... Matter of fact just today, after I updated to 8.0.2 early yesterday morning, I noticed that everything was so blazing fast I couldn't believe it... I've never had this type of speed... It was crazy fast just pop pop pop pop from one thing to the next... Awesome.... But I will report back if I have any new noticed issues of the refreshing kind.... So far, all good for me... But my iPad 2 can't keep up with my typing here in an apple forum and is lagging like crazy... Can't win em all I guess hahaha....

Sep 30, 2014 5:56 PM in response to Cerebrlasassnby lforbes,I Have an iPad 2 and iPhone 4s still on 6.x where it will remain until this is fixed. Anyone have an update for iOS8 yet? I have a 32 GB iPad Air but it is full of apps and don't want to upgrade iOS if it takes up more space and still has the bug. I have iPhone 6 too but again waiting.
If anyone has seen anything good for performance improvements with iPad 2 or iPhone 4s and iOS 8.0.2 let me know.

Oct 21, 2014 4:41 AM in response to turfstufby SyberiaWinx,Still no word on a fix? It's been a year, and they still haven't even acknowledged that this problem exists. The customers are the ones doing the research into what's causing the problem and trying to find fixes. This is beyond insane. There's little point to even using these Apple devices if we have to worry about losing data whenever we try to multitask.

Oct 21, 2014 7:17 AM in response to SyberiaWinxby lforbes,Not only is there no fix for existing devices it is still broken on the iPad Air 2 and the iPhone 6 large on iOS 8. I did a demo for the techs in the apple store.
iOS 8 is even worse. I didn't upgrade my iPad 2 from 6 to 7 and now I wish I had because I can't go to 8 without destroying it

Oct 24, 2014 9:59 AM in response to Cerebrlasassnby rodknocker,You made an iCloud Backup restore of your data or a complete new setup?
I have this issue again on my new iPhone 6. It was already gone with my previous iPhone (iPhone 5) and iOS 7.1.x

Oct 24, 2014 10:01 AM in response to DebinLeeby rodknocker,i also had the bug now again on iOS 8 and iPhone 6.
I thought i was already gone in iOS 7, because they fixed it.

Oct 27, 2014 10:09 AM in response to sjmawerby chris2525,I've been following this thread for months. My hope was that iOS 8 would fix this issue, but it has not. The usability of my iPhone is greatly affected by this issue, and it's a very frustrating problem to have. I've decided that Apple will not address nor fix this issue and so I either need to be resigned to a phone without multitasking, or switch platforms. For now I'm wallowing in resignation because I'm invested in this platform. A thanks to the community here without which we'd have no answers.
