Q: ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2

One thing that baffles me about this thread is that there has never been a response from Apple here. Is it their policy to not involve themselves in the discussions here?

That is exactly the policy. This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Perhaps you should re-read the Terms of Use to which you agreed when you signed up. If you want to contact Apple, use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page.

Hi Meg, thanks for the helpful response. I thought there was some level of interaction with Apple support here since I hear about them removing posts on a regular basis. Of course using the Contact Us link to contact Apple is useless. Many people have tried to get support for this issue and no one here has been successful.

The Hosts, on rare occasions, remove posts that are reported to them and judged to be in violation of the Terms of Use by the Hosts. The Hosts do not go looking for posts to remove and certainly don't remove them on a "regular basis". There are also Community Specialists who answer questions from a narrow range of subjects that have gone unanswered for 24-48 hours.

Thanks Meg for your expertise. What would you suggest we do to get some actual support and solutions on the problem so many people have been desperately reporting about for a year in this thread?

Well, since I suspect you're not actually joking, I'll put that aside and reply in all seriousness. Many people have tried that route and it hasn't worked. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or call AppleCare.

    Have you tried that route?

    and it hasn't worked

and many have used that route and  it has worked very well.

Generally, they won't post here that it worked.

Thanks for your opinion Chris, but many devoted and involved people here have tried that route and reported here it hasn't worked.  That's what we know. The idea that people are trying to solve this, are part of this conversation, get the issue fixed and don't report it here; not only is that far fetched, given the immensity and persistence of this issue, but it's speculation.

Why bother when so many people have done so already with zero results and no consistent answer from Apple?

As Chris noted, people who got things fixed frequently don't come back and report that. And, the reason the answer isn't consistent is that there may well be more than one problem with the same symptom.

You seemed to be unhappy that you had not received a response from Apple in this thread. Both Chris and I gave you avenues for getting a response. However, if you don't want to bother, if you don't actually want to try to resolve the problem, that's entirely up to you.

    Best of luck.

Many of us have logged the problem with support and they have been no help in solving the problem though this route probably stands the best chance of getting Apple's attention. I am certain they are aware of the issues but have chosen to ignore them.

There is no point in expecting Apple to respond to our problems via this forum. It won't happen though there clearly is monitoring of this thread as evidenced by moderators deleting posts, often for the most trivial of transgressions.

Visiting a Genius bar is even less fruitful (if that's possible). The problem is obscure, hard to describe and few Geniuses appear to have heard of it.

I certainly believe that those of us with older devices will never see a solution to the problem. I have held off upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS 8 having long regretted upgrading to iOS 7. I suspect that iOS 8 (and thus iOS 8.1) is optimised for the newer devices that have considerable more memory than older ones and many have reported that their older devices run slower under iOS 8 (though to be fair, any OS developer has a difficult juggling act balancing customers' expectations for new features with the requirement for backwards compatibility).

I do not agree with the assertion that there are all these contributors to the thread that have found a solution to the problem but have not updated the forum with their findings. There are dozens of users here that have been extremely active in trying to solve the problem with multiple posts gradually adding to our understanding of what the problem is. With such an investment of time, effort and expertise I have no doubt that if they had found a solution it would have been reported.

Obviously I want a solution or I wouldn't be asking, but you miss the point. Others have tried and there has been no solution provided by Apple. That's the elephant in the room. Just telling me to contact Apple is rhetoric and misses my point. Thanks for your thoughts and help, in any case.

Continue to bump until they fix this issue.
