Nov 7, 2014 8:15 PM in response to chronicon helveticumby xlasplagasx,Can you please go to genius bar and demostrate the problem to them? Explain and test it in front of them to prove the problem exist.

Nov 7, 2014 8:16 PM in response to xlasplagasxby lforbes,Your bumping is getting a bit annoying. I want them to fix the issue too seeing as it is still very obvious on the iPhone 6 large with iOS 8.1. However, typing bump a hundred times isn't going to make Apple care anymore and it just sends emails without any update.

RE: However, if you don't want to bother, if you don't actually want to try to resolve the problem, that's entirely up to you.
Obviously I want a solution or I wouldn't be asking, but you miss the point. Others have tried and there has been no solution provided by Apple.
And I think you've missed the points that a) this is most likely not just one problem, just one symptom and b) people probably have gotten solutions from Apple. Just because neither they nor Apple have posted them here doesn't mean they don't exist. You won't know until you try.

Nov 7, 2014 9:26 PM in response to IdrisSeabrightby chris2525,Thanks Meg, while I appreciate your opinion I completely disagree with you. I've read this whole thread and kept up with it for a year, and I'm convinced that Apple does not have a solution. All evidence points to that. No point in arguing about it any further. Thanks.

Nov 7, 2014 9:59 PM in response to xlasplagasxby lforbes,I Have. They are just employees. They know about the issue too. They are not idiots. The Safari is replicated on every OS hardware model even the AIR 2. It is a bug with the way the memory is stored.

Nov 7, 2014 10:00 PM in response to IdrisSeabrightby lforbes,Claire, I. can replicate it in the Apple store with all new devices. It is not fixed for some.

Nov 17, 2014 8:05 PM in response to xlasplagasxby lforbes,Enough with the bumping as you will kill the thread.
Have you tried 8.1.1 yet?
My iPad Air is better being shut off every night. It is a minor workaround to power off instead of sleep and it helps a lot.

Nov 17, 2014 11:40 PM in response to xlasplagasxby chronicon helveticum, xlasplagasx: if you had read through the thread, you would see this is exactly what I did do. It was a waste of time. The Genius Bar staff are way too many layers away from the development team.

Nov 17, 2014 11:46 PM in response to lforbesby chronicon helveticum,Iforbes, switching off the iPad is an interesting strategy. Do you think this clears the memory in a similar way to a reset?
If any iPad 2 (or 4S) users have upgraded to 8.1.1, it would be interesting to hear whether performance in general has improved. In particular is there any improvement in app swopping handling?

Nov 18, 2014 7:28 AM in response to chronicon helveticumby lforbes,I expect like with any computer turning off is the only thing that clears the ram.
As a computer tech (Mac and Windows) I have seen this Ram leakage a lot over the years where one app or OS would take RAM and not release it. I have never seen a software company take so long to fix it though.
I have an iPad 2 on iOS 6. Waiting to see if 8.1.1 is OK. It is frustrating not being able to update apps

Dec 22, 2014 9:39 PM in response to sjmawerby powerchord1,Does this issue exist on the new iPhone 6? I'm so put off by this I may ditch all Apple products, including my phone. Absolutely unacceptable, and almost certainly an indicator of what's to come.

Dec 23, 2014 5:50 AM in response to powerchord1by oscarfromguilford,Just exactly the same, and irritating as can be. I have a new iPhone 6 Plus, 128 GB, iOS 8.1.2. I haven't read this thread in a long time because I saw long ago that this condition is here to stay. It is beyond my comprehension how anyone could expect serious work to get done on these devices under these circumstances, and I have to conclude that few are trying to use them for such. If my laptop behaved like this, I would pitch it out the window.

Dec 23, 2014 6:34 AM in response to oscarfromguilfordby ghbyram, really liking my samsung galaxy S5. Not perfect but gets it right in the right ways. would replace my ipad also with a galaxy tablet but the ipad was a fathers day gift so sentiment, not preference, will keep it relevant for a while longer

Then you would be wrong. However, not everyone has the same needs or preferences. If you're within the return period, you should be able to return your iPhone and purchae something more to your liking. Even if you're outside the return window, iPhones generally have a very high resale value. You'd probably be able to get close to what you paid for it and could then use the proceeds to buy a phone you found less irritating. Life is too short to struggle with tools that don't meet your needs if you don't have to.
