Why has my lightning to SD card reader suddenly started to come up with the statement that it is not certified for my iPad and therefore will not work?

my question exactly, though my ipad says it _might_ not work. either way the photos don't appear in either photos nor iphoto on the ipad, the way it used to with my other 5 in one connector and my ipad 2. what's even more annoying is that apple only offers two separate ligtning connectors - one for usb and another for sd cards - and with a dangling cable, to break like their other crappy cables ;( does anyone know of a _certified_ 3 or 5 in one lightning connector?..
